Ugh. I went into Hobby Lobby at the beginning of August to see the Halloween decorations. I was met by one aisle of Halloween, one aisle of generic Fall and 16 FREAKIN AISLES OF CHRISTMAS!!!
I'm sorry, but this is just ridiculous. I go into Wal-Mart in the middle of September to be greeted by Christmas trees in the entrance and carols being played over the PA. Just friggin' insane! The malls all have their decorations out, and almost every store is filled with plastic Santas and snowmen. It seems that Halloween and Thanksgiving, not being the major money making holidays, are pushed aside. More and more stores jump the gun on the Holiday season, hoping to make more money (though, in all honesty, does anyone spend more money on Christmas just because the stuff is out earlier???). It has gotten to the point where I'm utterly sick of all the Christmas trappings before December has even gotten here. The "Christmas Creep" seems to get earlier every year, and I'm pretty tired of it! I'm not a scrooge. In fact, Christmas was always a close second to Halloween for me, but I DON'T want to see this stuff out so early. At least save it for a little closer to Thanksgiving. It ruins the whole effect if I'm hearing "White Christmas" blasting out of department stores when it is still in the upper 90s outside!!!! Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

It seems to me that, if retailers put all the xmas bullshit on sale, there wouldn't be so much to get rid of after xmas.

I'd be fine with that,it certainly would make Christmas shopping easier when you have a big family to buy for. Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach
