I think this is an interesting topic, however I'm not sure that I see that there was a point to be "lost on the org". Wasn't this thread posted as an offer of wisdom? A cautionary tale? To what were we supposed to respond?
As for arbitrary, isn't that the only thing that is debatable, or interesting to discuss? I don't know, maybe I missed something. | |

The arbitrary is that which is introduced into discussion that actually has neither any evidence for nor against. Such ideas don't actually deserve to be debated, merely recognized for what they are--made up. If you had to do battle against every idea that every schmoe made up, you'd lose a lot of valuable time. A figment of someone's imagination recorded on magnetic tape. Just go look and see, push in the little door and feel around. There's nothing there, but the VCR tape. The Matrix? Water doesn't necessarily freeze at 32 degrees F or 0 C. Water freezes at lower temperatures depending upon salinity and pressure factors, so 32 degrees F applies to pure, fresh water and not seawater which freezes at approximately 30 degrees F. Extreme salinity can cause water to stay liquid at lower temperatures.
