Bottled water isn't basically tap water at all. Tap water has all sorts of bad shit in it, bottled water is at least filtered and doesn't have chlorine in it.

No, but sometimes I'll drink the water at my parents. It's well water.

No, I live in Thailand. I do bathe in it though (cold!), and use it when I brush my teeth. All our drinking and cooking water is bottled water or mineral water. There's no other way here, and besides, it's very cheap.
Back in the UK I always drink tap water. My parents live in the Cotswolds and the water's great!

All depends on where you live though, doesn't it? Tap water differs so much from place to place (and country to country) in terms of taste and content.

Yes I drink tap water seeing as bottled water is overpriced pretensious pish for bawbags who go to the gym and like Coldplay. “If I can shoot rabbits/then I can shoot fascists”

The water here's pretty good, so I usually avoid bottled water unless I'm travelling.
It's quite bad for the environment too, putting water in plastic bottles and transporting it hundreds or even thousands of miles. All so you can pay more per gallon than petrol/gas And as for purity, just get a filter for your tap. It's a lot cheaper and it could be safer. Dasani tried to launch in the UK in 2004 - along from amazingly incompetent marketing, the filtering process actually contaminated the water with a carcinogen. Dasani was pulled and hasn't been seen in Europe since. And there have been recent concerns about the plastic bottles themselves contaminating the water of many brands. And if you're a total prat, you can buy Bling H2O - only E45 ($60) a bottle here in Dublin. It must taste better as the bottle's decorated with Swarovski crystals

um, actually, tap water in England is supposed to be much better than bottled. Bottled water (particularly in clear glass) is prone to microbes. And don't even go there with what plastic bottles can contain!

It's not! We bathe and brush our teeth with it. We are just spoiled out here.

that's true, but there have been reports where they found bottled water with the same contaminants as tap water. old, unabsorbed, or wasted medicines.

Bottled water is nothing but tap water you paid too much for. It's no cleaner or purer.
If you're really concerned about what's coming out of your faucet, buy a filter. Problem solved. meow is having some serious problems with spelling this morning. [Edited 10/27/08 2:07am] "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I drink tapwater all the time...but I'd RATHER be drinking Poland Spring.
All other bottled water grosses me out ("plastic" taste)...but Poland Spring is very clean. When I go to Florida to visit the in-laws, I bring my own (no Poland Spring down there & tapwater tastes like clay). By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!
