This is the best adaptation of the Dracula story I've ever seen. It follows the original Romanian legend more closely and the acting is good without being too over the top.

I have been meaning to see this one because I love Jane March. Thanks for reminding me. The essay I am writing is about the fictional Dracula, the Romanian people, the history of Vlad Tepes, and how they all got intertwined because of Stoker's book.

I was surprised to learn that Vlad Tepes, aka Vlad the Impaler is said to be viewed as a hero in some parts of Romania even today...that's deep.

That is true. Most Romanians honor Vlad. The Turks were the main ones who wrote about all the gruesome atrocities supposedly committed by him, and many historians believe the stories were greatly exaggerated. There are many statues honoring him, and even a postage stamp for the 500th anniversary of his death.

Ditto on Love At First Bite starring George Hamilton. Super 70's cheezy vampire movie that was hilarious. I would love to buy it on dvd, but unfortunately the song "I Love the Nightlife" in the dancing scene between Dracula and Susan St. James was replaced by some other disco song from what I heard doesn't fit.

I liked Frank Langella's portrayal of Dracula as well as Bela Lugosi. I recently saw Dracula 2000 starring Gerard Butler (hot), but it was just ok. He looked good in it tho.

Bela Lugosi only played Dracula in the original film and the Abbott and Costello movie.

If you want a scary vampire, check out Boris Karloff in the original Italian version of "Black Sabbath" in the segment "The Wurduluk." This was recently released on DVD and is a much better, scarier version of the Americanized version.

I forgot to mention Klaus Kinski in Werner Herzog´s version of Nosferatu. Kinski was great.

God, I really wish I could agree with this one.
I was so in love with Aaliyah (come on, the girl's favorite band was Nine Inch Nails mushy), that when she died I was rather...saddened. But, the movie being so poorly executed was just an awful way to see her in her last performance, especially since she made the perfect Queen of the damned. sigh

I have to give props to Interview with the Vampire though.
I think it's my favorite Vampire flick, and Tom Cruise nails the Lestate character in ways Stuart Townsand couldn't.

But what do I know? My other vampire movies I like are:

1. 30 days of night
2. Lost Boys

lol
