Every time the Count comes on to teach all the little children to count and breaks out in his dracula laugh, my little cousin busts out in tears. Now just the sight of the Count gets him to hollering. How is that chile gonna learn how to count now?

When you were little what character designed to appeal to children made you cry or gave you nightmares?

i can't remember that fucks name and mostly all of you
are TOO YOUNG TO REMEMBER.
when i was a kid there was a puppetshow and i think it was WINCHELL MAHONEY (MA-HO-NEE) his partner KNUCKLEHEAD.
any way,
after seeing the puppet on the TWILIGHT ZONE (late fifties)
i didn't like them.
my GRAN' gave my brother this WINCHELL puppet and i never could shake the feeling that he was following me.
funy thing is, i liked HOWDY DOODY...

OK...
it was JERRY MAHONEY
i hope this comes out...

lol it's all good... y'all keep curryin on like this.

I still gotta find a way to teach this little chile' to count.

Maybe if I sit him down in front of a marathon of Sesame Streets he'll get numb to the whole thing? Then again, he'll probably go home and have nightmares til the end of time and his momma will wanna kill me.

Ok...I'll give it a try. Let me ask you a question. Has this child ever seen a real vampire movie? Or a really spooky one that they may be relating this character to? If so, your first duty is to seperate the fantasy of the vampire to the reality of the Count biggrin I'd suggest taking him somewhere where there are puppets, like a toy store...bring along some $$$ lol

If he has not been exposed to such things, then I suggest you let him be...the more you push it, the more terrified he will be. When my girl is uncomfortable she tends to go into her room and close the door. I let her be.

As for teaching him to count. I've gotten my girl a abacus, workbooks, and flashcards...that might sound boring or tedious, but they also enjoy the time they spend with you...

Just some ideas.

lol ROFL

Ok ok, no count doll for the chil'. He's only 14 months so I can't imagine what else he's been exposed to, to have given him such a reaction to the Count. It just seems to be innate or something.

LAV thnx for the advice on other stuff. That sounds like it'll do.

This one episode of Ernie and Bert...Ernie imagines a balloon that's blowing up and eventually it pops! I was about 3, I guess, and it always scared the shit out of me when the balloon popped because though it was imaginary, it totally shook Ernie and Bert's bedroom.

I usually had to turn the TV off for what seemed an appropriate amount of time before I could continue with my daily dose of muppets.

I'm sorry but that is just to funny.

I don't remember that, but there was one specific sketch about a guy who had a plant store. Pedro's plant store. There was absolutely nothing scary about it but for some reason I had recurring nightmares about this guy. It was so weird.

I remember the ape man...terrible suit as i recall,
all knotted up and real tanglely-like. It needed a
whole bottle of relaxer fluid...lol
We used to watch that show in school. My favorite
character was Spider Man.
I don't remember being scared of any characters during
MY childhood, but those damned TeleTubbies are pretty
scarrry now. LOL
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

THANK DA LAWD! Thought I was goin crazy or had manufactured the memory or something.

That's the only reason I used to watch Electric Co. was Spider-Man and Letterman! Now Letterman was dashiznit!

The old Hamburglar, before they made him look all cute. That mofo gave me the creeps sad. Also, for some reason, the Miss Beasley doll from 'Family Affair'. Guess I was a strange child, huh?
