"Twilight" by Stephanie Myers (book/movie)

Is anyone else into this book and/or anticipating the movie? I am only on chapter 9 of the first book, have bought the second book already, and am anxious to see the movie. The trailer looks good! What are your thoughts, Org???

I've read TWILIGHT twice already. I love that movie like crazy and it's so cool how they're making it into a movie. My mom and I have read the books and are going to see it together when I come home for Thanksgiving break cool

It's a really good series.
And I just finished reading Stephenie Meyer's other book "The Host," which I'll recommend also. It's something different than Twilight, but once you get into it, you won't be disappointed.

Read all four books (took one day for each one...I speed read). LOOOOOVE them. My daughter got me hooked on them (she's 18).

BlackAdder, 13 isn't a bad age, depending on what you already let her read. I would have let my daughter read these at 13. Fan base most definitely starts in the teens and then moves on up to older women and men. I know the first time I read "Interview with a Vampire" I was 7 and this is not anywhere near as graphic with the violence.

lol I sped read through Twilight the 2nd time I read it because I wanted to refamiliarize myself b4 I go to read New Moon & Eclipse (both of which were xmas presents and I first read Twilight at the beginning of November within 2 weeks of starting).

"New Moon"... I'm not going to spoil it, but I literally sped through that one because I wasn't as pleased with it as its predecessor.

I'm going to read "Breaking Dawn" starting Halloween night after I finish 2 big assignments and register my classes (all of which I'll be stressing a bit about). Can't wait dancing jig

I was going to re-read "Twilight" before the movie came out, but since adaptations usually disappoint me, I've decided not to. I'll re-read it after I see the movie.

When I saw "Interview with a Vampire" I was pretty satisfied, but "Queen of the Damned" pissed me off big time.

I just finished Breaking Dawn.

Overall, Twilight is the best book, followed by Eclipse. I got bored to tears by New Moon, it only picks up in the last few chapters.

It's pretty cheesy overall and I positively HATE the way they've simply chosen to ignore the traditional rules for vampires. It's just WRONG.

But Twilight does an amazing job of building up the romance and sexual tension. I felt like a teenager again, when just the idea of seeing a boy I had a crush on could make me weak in the knees, let alone the notion of actually getting a first kiss. And that a kiss is all I'm looking and hoping for.

I just came back from the midnight showing of the movie.

I could post my overall review of it if you want whistling
but for now, I'll leave it with this.

I think it does the book justice, but the two have their differences. Respectable differences, but a lot of the right elements were kept in.

The casting, which I was most worried about, pretty much worked for the best. Some were better than expected (Jacob, as small as his role was), some were overall perfect (Bella)...
I thought that Robert Pattinson was a great choice for Edward, but after a while, I wasn't feeling him the way I did the character. But perhaps I'm under the illusion that I don't want the movie to take over the imagery I get from the book. That including my idea of that character that I get from reading.

Overall, I give it a B+ thumbs up!

lol I hear you but at the same time it's kinda funny.

My favorite book is Twilight. I'm hoping S. Meyers gets over being upset about Midnight Sun being leaked and finishes it, because that is actually my favorite of all the books so far and it's only partially completed giggle

I actually really liked New Moon and I really love Jacob lol

I thought S. Meyers wrote Breaking Dawn too fast and took the easy way out in many ways.

IMHO.

I haven't read the books yet just for this reason. Tweaking a few things here and there is fine because everyone takes a few liberties, but somebody told me that in this series not only can the vamps walk around in sunlight, they bloody sparkle! Is that right?

I am seriously considering reading them though, but I'm stalling because I've always hated "teen" novels even when I was in that demographic.

Any fans of the books want to convince me? I hate to miss out on what turns out to be a good book or series, but I also hate reading something that turns out to bite. (no pun razz ) Anyone?

A friend recommended Twilight to me after I asked him for advice on a good book that I could listen to on CD ( I listen to audio-books whilst I work). I knew nothing about this book other than it was popular right now.
About 70% thru this Harlequin romance level vampire love story, I couldn't take anymore. I wikipedia-ed the book to see if the story would actually move anywhere forward. When I read that it was geared towards 15 yr. old girls,
I phoned my friend and called him a fucker.

....that fucker.

(BTW, I gave the audio-book to my niece & she loved it. She has since bought & read all the printed versions.)
