I'm reading the book now (for the 1st time) and planning to see it this spring
(Not in NYC) I'm really interested in seeing how the story translates to the stage. <---heh heh....green.... I'm firmly planted in denial

When I first picked up the book I was not enthralled....very wordy and I HATE wordy books....
Not as crazy as it sounds...I hate books that are written in a style where it seems like the author likes the sound of his/her own voice... But...I bought it...I'm planning on seeing the show and I don't like to start a book and not finish it so I've kept reading and I LOVE the book! I can see myself reading it more than once I'm firmly planted in denial

I thought it was funny, entertaining and the music was surprisingly good (performances in London were superb, and I assume they are around the world). I'd definately recommend it, particularly to those people who don't go to the theatre very often as it's a good "entry-level" musical (non-sophisticated, uncomplicated and not at all boring).
