She also thinks we Americans are all heathens for celebrating Thanksgiving on the day we do. rolleyes

Long live the Turkey, mashed potatoes, and stories of savagery I say!

If by heathen you mean racist, then yes. That fact that you felt the need to mention "savegery" seals the deal here.

Thank you for this post and your others. I hope soon many more countries will adjust their laws and realize that we are living in the 21st century. Everytime a thread like this comes up on the org I cannot believe my eyes there are still people who think it's okay to spank their children disbelief. And they seem to be the majority in the USA sad. Very sad sigh. Lately I was wondering if Austria feels like home to me, but having read all this I am actually happy living here in a society that respects its children. If a child is spanked here in Austria it is very likely the police will be called and proper action will be taken nod.
I do not believe anyone is advocating spanking, Martina. No one here wants to have to do it. Things are very different between here and Austria. America is a society that teaches people to be shallow and selfish. There are tv shows here that make kids wish for material things and to be huniliated if their parents can't provide them. If you don't let that type of stuff in your house, the kids will still be exposed to it when they leave your doorstep. Over the years, there has been a huge break away from spanking kids because child services being called is a threat your kids use. My daughter used to use that threat on me. But with her behavioral problems, I've invited her to call them. I've even told my daughter I'd be open to letting her go live somewhere else where she'd think she'd be happpier. I've tried the whole gamut and she won't go to therapy. and before anyone says it, there is no making her do anything. I'd gladly send her to you or Meow or purplesweat to see if you all could do it better than me.

can we have a thread about this please? confused
I've watched a couple of Ben10 episodes and now the movie, I can't believe kids talk to each other in such a mean way. Is it trying to be like it really is in real life? or is real life imitating the TV shows sigh
