Best Sci-Fi movie of 2000's

Ok you know the deal, pick a sci-fi movie from 2000 until now. I'll give my pick later.

Slim pickings, getting slimmer as the decades roll on. If you'll allow The Dark Knight I'll go with that, otherwise, Wall-E.

It's that bad..... confused

Of the top of my head, I'm thinking Serenity.

I love that movie, but there has to be something better. 4/5 of the decade is over and people are drawing a blank.

I guess it's obvious why SF films aren't as good now as they used to be. There's less future now as there was then.

I remember liking it, but I can barely remember anything about it.

I was a fan of the TV series so I found the movie Serenity to be very traumatic. sad

disbelief

Doesn't anyone recall Summer Glau becoming a killing machine? Or the abandoned planet where those scary Reavers were born? Or Kaylee and the Doctor finally boff at the end? And the most horrifying of all, MAIN CHARACTERS DYING? Oh The humanity! bawl

I remember it all.

Then again, I just saw it for the first time a few months ago.

If Spider-Man 2 counts, I'd have to go with that. It's my favorite movie of the decade so far.

That movie was a disappointment for me. It couldn't live up to the hype

I thought it was much better than the hype. The only problem I had with the original (my 2nd-favorite of the decade) was the Green Goblin and his ridiculous mask. The sequel has all of the goodness of the first one with a much better villain. While I'm not the biggest fan of Kirsten Dunst, I don't have one negative thing to say about that movie.

Ah, man, it is slim pickin's this decade. If you could include TV shows (Battlestar Galactica), it'd be easy. I guess I maybe could vote for Vanilla Sky, but I think I was one of like a dozen people who actually liked it, and it was a pointless remake of a much better '90s movie. This decade has really been about fantasy and superhero movies; sci-fi has been left behind.

Yes, the biggest real sci-fi films this decade have been disappointing sequels.

well, not that many people agree with me about it lol My whole movie experience is really susceptible to hype. It's a weakness of mine.

The Matrix is a good one, although it suffers from extreme overuse of CGI in the sequels but the story was still good and had a lot of depth to it

Oh, I understand. Hype is one of the main reasons I dislike Forrest Gump. Still, I'm a huge Spider-Man fan and I think they captured the essence of Spidey in those first two movies better than any comic-book film ever (and it isn't even remotely close).

I thought I hated Will Smith until I saw I Am Legend. If you haven't seen it...Rent it...it surprised me like the Matrix surprised me....very good movie.

That's about the only one I can think of, too. Although, there's been a lot of movies I haven't seen, so.... shrug

Hopefully the new Star Trek film will rank up there as well. I'm very cautious about that one.

yeah, i'd say star wars: revenge of the sith too.

even though i don't think it's one of the greatest films ever, i think it had some beautifully iconic moments and managed to salvage the prequel trilogy somewhat, PLUS i think it shines in comparison to the other sci fi films released this decade thus far. i'm probably forgetting something i really love, though...

...is donnie darko considered sci fi? i liked that better than ep III.

Good choice. It certainly has sci-fi elements.
