"The Apple" makes "Graffiti Bridge" look realistic!

Just saw Cannon film's now legendary 1980 musical opus "The Apple" on Turner Classics Underground Friday nights.

Wow!

If you've never seen it, it's a far out musical that makes "Graffiti Bridge" look downright professional and plausible.

It's a combination of the Book of Revelation, the Unarius cult, Grease, Rocky Horror Picture Show, 1984, Battlefield Earth with Catherine Mary Stewart and a plot about the devil, in this case leader of the BIM music cult, trying to control the universe.

AND ,it's the only movie I've ever seen with a true deux ex machina, as God comes from the heavens in a gold cadillac to whisk our heroes to paradise.

I understand it currently plays, on occasion, at midnight movies.

Highly, highly recommended for fans of outerspace Apocalyptic musicals.

It's a faux Daltrey. But very close to the real thing, in a Cannon kind of way. smile

This brief taste truly doesn't truly do justice to "The Apple."

Damn, the preview doesn't even have Mr. Topps!

It's definitely better than G.B. And it shares a lot of the same themes (and future themes of Prince) the dreaded music CON-tract, the ultimate battle for Armageddon is choice of music style, in both films it is ballads, or love songs, versus uptempo songs for their very souls, etc.

God in a Cadillac? That alone makes it way better than Graffiti Bridge.

You're definitely NOT the only who hasn't seen "The Apple;" it's audience is rather "selective."

"Graffiti Bridge" I believe you're better off not seeing. Definitely own the soundtrack though. "Under the Cherry Moon" is something to see, for sure.
