official price of Super Bowl tickets will reach $1,000 This is some B.S.
NEW YORK -- The official price of Super Bowl tickets will reach $1,000 for the first time this season. The NFL confirmed Thursday that 25 percent of the tickets for the Feb. 1 game in Tampa will be priced at $1,000. It also announced it will drop the price of 1,000 tickets at Raymond James Stadium by $200 to $500, the first time the league has cut prices for a Super Bowl. Tickets for last year's game in Glendale, Ariz., between the New England Patriots and New York Giants were priced at $700 and $900, up from $600 and $700 the year before. Overall, the official price for 17,000 suite and club seats will be $1,000 each. Another 53,000 tickets will go for $800, with the remaining 1,000 at $500. At last year's game, the average price of tickets on StubHub, the online resellers, was $4,300. Ticket prices for the first Super Bowl, played at the Los Angeles Coliseum 43 years ago, were $6, $10 and $12. They went over the $100 mark in 1988 and have increased regularly since.

Price is NOT the real issue. The issue is that this assures that the average fan who supports the NFL on any given Sunday cannot attend the Championship game. This doesn't make a lot of sense 2 me.

True but the seats worth having.....between the 30 yard lines on the lower level are the good seats. The seats they are cutting probably aren't worth having.

Supply and demand. This isn't unique to football any special sporting event whether it's for college or professional sports gouges fans. Besides the average football fan doesn't attend games anyway. If you're gonna travel to go to a Super Bowl exorbitant ticket prices are part of the deal.

I'll stay on the ... well, if you think about it, thats the prime time for the sale of TVs. think about what people who buy TV's at that time to watch the Super Bowl and the price they pay for all of the things that go along with that purchase and party in their own homes.

Thank you. I was going to say, "What part of supply and demand don't you understand?" We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Just an observation. When I want 2 go, I go, but it just seems weird 2 be at these games with people who don't even know football. It's like being at these special Prince concerts and fools aren't even into the music.

Honey lamb, you of all people KNOWS that high profile events like this, All Star Weekend, NBA Championships, etc. are much larger than the event itself and is definitely a see and be seen type of thing with tons of miscellaneous events around the main one. If you're gonna go to this it's less about THE game itself and more about everything that goes on around it. As much of a sports fan as I am, that's why I actually go to these events. It's not to watch the games. If I wanna watch the game I stay at home.

Has anyone ever tried to buy tickets from the NFL to the Superbowl? You have to send a certified letter to have your name put into a drawing to get the opportunity to buy a ticket. I don't know how many are left after the sponsors and players get their allotment, but I bet it's not a lot. I sent in a letter this year. Don't guess my name got pulled, I have not heard shit from the money grubbing bastards. If you're not doing the fucking, then you're taking one.
