As a teacher, "feared" is the way to go. lol

hmmm
I know some parents who act like a kid's best friend, or don't discipline them enough because they are afraid the kid won't love them.
I really don't worry about the kids not loving me. They can dislike me all they want (when they are in trouble lol ) as long as I ultimately raise them to be good people. I know they love me when I bring out the ice-cream, so no problem!

In general? Loved. I can't imagine why anyone would fear me. I'd much prefer they respect me, and fear is not necessary for that.

i had an element of fear in my mother until the day she died, and i still have days when i get paranoid that she's hanging around the house giving me the stinkeye. lol

and it's not a bad thing, or that she was mean or abusive. i just always knew if i screwed up, i'd have to deal with the wrath of her crazy self at some point. i always got along with my mom and we did a lot of fun things together and she always provided for me and supported me. but she also put the fear of god into me when i messed up, and i don't resent her for that at all.

I'll say both. I want people to fear how much they love me.

As a Soldier...a Master Sergeant to be (got selected for promotion in September...woot!) I've found that if you're loved (too much) as a leader, there are some who will take your kindness for weakness, which if left unchecked will undermine your whole program....so for me, I'd rather be feared...loathed.....despised....because at the end of the day, my mission gets accomplished

depends on my role, and what i was trying to achieve. as a world leader? feared and loved. as a parent? loved and feared a little.
