I have about 5.
I check the weather online before I leave the house to see if it's going to rain. If it's been rainy for a while, I might carry a small one in my purse, just in case I need it. There's also one in my desk at work in case I forget and it rains later in the day. |

I always carry a backpack with me to work that I can put my compact lunch cooler in as well as my MP3player, 8GB USB drive, etc., etc., so I ended up buying a compact umbrella to go in there, too.

I have 2. One with me and one in the car. I think you just need to get yourself and Umbrella. Or put plastic grocery bags on your head like the little old ladies do.

Omg! I didn't know that's something international. My grandma still does it. She doesn't want her perfectly coiffed Queen Elizabeth hair to fall flat.

i HATE using umbrellas. Especially if its windy.
If its raining i'll wear a hoodie or something. Its so not cool to be walking down the street with an umbrella and the wind breaks it.

Yes, one, but it's dusty. I don't think I've used it in the past 3 years.
I live in Seattle. The natives are known for our avoidance of umbrellas, because they end up being impractical in this climate. It rains often, but it's not usually a downpour. For drizzle or sprinkles, it's too much of a pain in the ass to be perpetually toting a damp umbrella. Most of us just wear layers, including something with a hood. I pretty much only use an umbrella for job interviews at the like. Something where I really don't want to get my hair messed up. "What's 'non-sequitur' mean? Do I look it up in a Fag-to-English dictionary?"

Not anymore. I have a rain jacket with a hood. When I lived in LA, it would rain and we'd all get out these ratty unbrellas. But in the Bay where it rains more, and also Seattle, where it always rains, people don't seem to use them as much.
I think it's way better to just wear a hood, personally, unless I needed to be dressy. My Legacy

In college I had a cheap dollar store one and I had it open one night walking to campus and the wind was so strong, it bent the metal center tube into a j-shape like an invisible Superman.

Yes. I live in Vancouver. I have two.
As for how do people know it's going to rain? Well Sparky, in the 21st century we have these far out, neato, and hip things called weather forecasts. Sometimes they're even right. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
