yeah, i'd say star wars: revenge of the sith too.

even though i don't think it's one of the greatest films ever, i think it had some beautifully iconic moments and managed to salvage the prequel trilogy somewhat, PLUS i think it shines in comparison to the other sci fi films released this decade thus far. i'm probably forgetting something i really love, though...

...is donnie darko considered sci fi? i liked that better than ep III.

nope total bullshit, killing off Padme was a huge smack in the face to true star war fans. Lucas could have totally used the part where Darth struck her down and left her for dead and be done with it. That would have been truly embracing the dark side. Hell the whole ending would have worked on a much better level. Instead we just get a lukewarm (ha) ending where darth was still expecting padme to still be hanging around waiting for him???. stupid.

I kinda have to give up some cred to A.I.

While I personally think it was a messy film and badly needed editing, the concept was actually pretty sound and could have been a great sci fi movie.

I personally dont care for speilberg, he usually bloated and he is here also. but the idea and what is trying to be stated does come across, how the things humanity makes takes on the humanity that humans have lost works in the last scenes but it doesn't flow with the rest of the movie.

Best sci-fi anything of the 2000s is Battlestar Galactica. The End.

I would't call Donnie Darko sci-fi, but it is definitely one of this decade's best movies! nod

I LOVE Battlestar Galactica. If I have to pick a favourite episode, it would be the one where they meet Battlestar Pegasus. biggrin

As far as movies go, there hasn't been any real great sci-fi films, but I liked The Chronicles Of Riddick Director's Cut. So that would probably be my favourite. biggrin

I also really liked the arena sequence in Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones. biggrin

And then Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith would be my third choice. nod

The Matrix is a good one, although it suffers from extreme overuse of CGI in the sequels but the story was still good and had a lot of depth to it

i just re-watched the first matrix, it is such a good movie. i agree about the sequels, parts of them looked like cartoons.

I watched two episodes of BSG back when it started and couldn't stomach it. Not only that, but the camerawork gave me a splitting headache.

My favorite choice for Sci-Fi anything of the 2000s is Doctor Who followed by Torchwood.

I have to disagree I think that BSG is one of the best things that has been reworked. Granted it doesn't have the same kitschy feel of the original, but it stands alone as one of the best things that TV has ever done.

Its bloody brilliant.

Wall-e
Minority Report (saw it with Prince!)
War of the Worlds
Signs
Children of Men
Donnie Darko (despite it's student film trappings like the Tears for Fears part)
Sunshine (just jarring with great sound)

I'm sure there are more...
