What is your latest favorite word/ word you feel is overused or just have a disdain for.

Latest favorite word: Juxtapose

Latest word to make me completely cringe: Essentially

In academic writing and speaking "essentially" has got to be the most overused word I know.

here's a combination of words I take issue with: "bad mother"

it's one I hear bandied around pretty flippantly all over the media, but is REALLY judgemental.

'Mellifluous' has a great definition but does not roll off the tongue as smoothly as the concept. ( At least in American)

Say it Nick , say it! giggle

they'd be the FIRST to NOT call anyone a bad mother, knowing full well there is no "method" to parenting that works for everyone, and even someone's best intentions and efforts can fail.

there is no pleasant way to use the word "appropriate".

whenever i hear that word, i cringe. it never means anything positive or complimentary.

i've never had anyone say to me, "you know, the thing i love the most about you is how appropriate you are. you are one of the most appropriate people i know." hug

it's an ugly word and i won't allow its use in my home!

well, okay, i will allow it in my home, but it doesn't mean i like it. mad

I have an unnatural disdain for the word "snack."

I always liked the way the words "cream cheese" look together when written.
