Fried Plantains

They are so delicious! I had some for the first time today when I went to a Folk Festival....this African Restaurant had a tent and was selling some, and when I tried it, it was so good that I went back after I ate my food and got a side order of it. It was that delicious nod
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

eek You've never had fried plantains before??? It's a staple of my diet, when I'm not too lazy to cook 'em. You should find a restaurant that specializes in good Caribbean or Latino (Central American, South American, or Cuban) food. They're always on the menu as tostones or patacones (fried and salty) or maduros (sauteed and sweet). Yummy! lick

Where's Painted at? She'll school ya on some platano. nod

Well the vendor I got the food from has a restaurant here, so I can always go visit there and get some more, and I think I will!

I want to try them. Looking at some recipes and the different ways it's served it seems similar to some of the things they do in Thailand with different types of bananas, but I'm intrigued to give plantains a go. Looks good! drool

omfg I'm starving over here and this don't help. I was close to there too. pout I ended up going to a Cuban restaurant called Las Vegas of all things and they had a plate with a half fried chicken, white rice, black beans, and maduros for $7.95. That food was too good! drooling
