In terms of family planning, this latest turn further validates a decision not to conceive, but perhaps adopt, a second child. I'd like a second kid and I think my wife and I can provide a solid, loving household for another. But I cannot see bringing another soul into this impending mess.

We've also decided to review our options for Canadian landed immigrant status and possibly citizenship. We very well may return to the United States when my daughter graduates grade school, but in the meantime, healthcare options are attractive for those with status here, as are college tuition fees, which tend much lower than in the U.S.

We own a rental property in Cleveland that I'd LOVE to sell. It's become nothing but a money pit. But the market is in such bad shape that the house would command a price much lower than we'd settle for. We'll hold onto it for awhile as an income property, maybe doing some upgrades as we can afford it. Once the market recovers, we will likely sell.

At the same time, the real estate market here in Canada is projected to trail that of the States. We're humoring the idea of buying a home in Canada once the market here sinks low enough that we might get a better bang for our buck. God willing, it'll happen around the time we're looking to sell in the States.

And sex? My sex life is pretty recession proof.

More people might have more hot nasty monkey sex since going out and dressing up will cost too much.
