Does your country use a number similar to our U.S. Social Security number that you use to apply for loans and credit?

Is identity theft a huge problem in your country?


I was just wondering if there were an easier system for applying for loans and protecting your identity at the same time. In the US you have to give out your SS for almost everything you do.

Germany has a Sozialversicherungsausweis

basically translated it says Social Insurance Statement...

In Israel you have an ID number. in Canada it's called SIN.

Do you guys have a social retirement fund? If so explain briefly how your system works. How old do you have to be to retire, etc?

We've got Social Insurance Numbers. Identity theft happens but it's not as widespread as people think, at least according to this cop I know.
