"Alien" just for the Giger connection alone.

Ok I'm gonna ask, whats the "Giger connection"?????

H.R. Giger is a surrealist artist who came up with a series wonderfully dark and beautiful paintings which he calls "Biomechanoids" - these were the basic premise for the Aliens in "Alien". He designed the creatures for the film and won an Oscar in 1980 for his work.

Here is some of his art:

(The painting that inspired it all. This is the work Ridley Scott saw as the template for the Alien design.)

Could be. I got the info from Giger's official Web site, though.

You're right about what it shows on Giger's site, but the other painting is always referenced in interviews and books all the way back to 1979. I wonder which one it is?

I think it's probably both. They both look like early concepts of the Alien.

It seems the people behind the "Species" movies may have been inspired by these!

Sorry that falls into the 60's (though for the 60's I would pick the original planet of the apes)

Slaughter-house Five if you have a liberal view of what can pass as sci-fi.

If not, then Alien.

Star Wars of course.

I also really like The Andromeda Strain. (that's sci-fi isn't it?)

Also, what about Planet of the Apes?

I'd say Alien, though it's more of a horror movie in a sci-fi setting.

I've never really been that hot for Star Wars, really. It's good, but it doesn't get to me too much.
