Dating, romance, hot nasty monkey sex and the Great Depression

Since I've been on the Org, I've always been able to come into the GD thread and find someone talking about some sexual subject, usually in intimate detail, whether it's dick size, pussy shape, semen, sexual positions, favorite pornos, etc. I've even come across some rather interesting discussions about fellow Orgers personal lives when it comes to sex, dating and romance.

But as you all are well aware of this week, the financial crisis has spread beyond Wall Street and is now affecting the rest of the world, which looks like it will create a nasty global economic recession, if not outright depression.

So why am I bringing up sex with the financial crisis? Because this financial crisis will probably hit us all personally at some point (if not already), and it will cause us to re-examine our personal behavior. If you are single and free like me, will the recession and hard times make you pause for a bit before bringing some bimbo home from the bar or club in the hopes that you don't get her pregnant and have a child you can't afford to raise? Or vice versa, will the ladies be more discriminating about the type of man she will date and/or marry? If you are engaged, will this cause you to scale down your wedding and honeymoon plans, and will this affect whether or not you can buy your first home? If you are currently married, will this affect whether or not you will have any children or will you put if off? Or if you have a family, will you decide not to have any more children? And if you have any teenage children, will the added burden of difficult financial times give you even more nightmares about whether your children suddenly impregnate or get impregnated by other teens? Please discuss.

we paid off the house, but the kids are DEFINITELY going to state school and getting jobs to buy their gizmos now, which was always the plan, but now a certainty.

I don't have credit cards or any over head expenses like that, I pay cash for everything and my truck is paid for. I'm even more careful about my spending and putting money away. I haven't looked at my portfolio because I know it would probably make me sick to my stomach.

Luckily I said NO to buying another investment property. I think another huge debt now would totally weigh down on us.

i think thats the point of it all, our new found depression, to give the human race a much needed overhaul.

even when we are doing well, everything still isn't shits and giggles.

its a taboo subject, but i think the human race is sick of its self running amuck exasperating every resource with their pointless existence.

there are MANY people leading pointless unproductive lives spawning more
unproductive humans and it hinders the advancement of the human race.

to think that its going to continue on forever in this manner is silly ignorant bliss.

we are indeed at the dawning of a new age.

I would hope that men wouldn't bring home a bimbo from a bar and women would be discriminating about whom they marry regardless of a recession. confused

Actually I'm thinking of buying into some funds now. I don't think it's goind to drop much more and it could be a great buying opportunity if your cash is right. What do you think, Stymie?

Makes sense especially with all the consolidations. I think this is gonna get rid of a lot of bloated companies. The stock price of the companies that survive this crisis will be double in 2 years, watch. nod

Funny thing, yesterday I opened a new account with Chase. And the lady was asking where else I bank and I told her Washington Mutual. She laughed and said, "Well, we'll just consolidate your accounts when we merge the systems." I was all "Watchu talkin' 'bout, Willis???" And she tells me, "We bought WAMU a few weeks ago." lol I had no clue cuz I avoid the news like the plague.

I usually don't tell people to get in, but if I had the funds, I'd get in now. Please be careful, try t o play it as safely as possible, diversify and to see a healthy return, be willing to hold on to your securities long term. Also, go to an online brokerage house where yuo can mae your own purchases without paying a broker a hefty commission.

Yes, I feel the same way. I'm about to amp up my Roth for this year and the next. I'm with Dodge and Cox which is pretty conservative but the stock fund shares are now less than half what they were 2 years ago. They went thru a similar thing after 9/11 and the stock fund skyrocketed two years later. I'm not taking the money out for 30 years, God willing if I'm still here, so I think it's a prime opportunity. Oh, and Dodge and Cox only charges a $12 fee per account per year.

No problem. Although I am a licensed broker, I am more on the compliance side, making sure firms do what they are supposed to do and not rip their clients off. I could never make a living being a broker because I believe so much of it is a rip-off. The brokers are richer than their clients and that sucks ass.

Girl, I be under a rock sometimes. lol I had no damn idea. Actually, Chase is one of the best positioned banks out there. They got rid of most of their subprime shit two years ago. Their head honchos were on the cover of a financial magazine last month talking about the epiphany the head dude had while in Rwanda (I think) to get the fuck outta housing. He frantically called his peeps back in the US telling them to get rid of all that mess.
