This is true,I personally have not had any kids, but being a woman,I can relate to how it would be a bit scary having your body changing everyday in some form, whether it be gaining weight or not being able to keep things down that you did before. I was at both my nephews births, and could only guess the kind of pain my sister was going through.

it is actually, not only does she have large amounts of hormones raging through her body, which she doesn't have normally, but also imagine all the things she is thinking about? eek
when I found out I was pregnant, the first 6 months at least my mind went from fear, "what have I done?!", "I can't even keep a houseplant alive, how can I be a mother?!?" to OMG I am going to have a BABY!!!!, back to "I will never look any good again after this sad , I am a big fat whale. etc.
on the bright side, during that 9 months I never caught a single cold! weird huh!

I understand how you feel. During the last 7-8 weeks of my pregnancy, I was quite unpleasant to be around at work. It's the fatique, the discomfort, the hormones. It won't really get much better after she has the baby I assure you. Because then it will be the fatigue, the discomfort, the hormones, and the leaky breasts. Sorry.

It drives me crazy....and saying that, I've had 2 kids.

Before I was pregnant the first time, I worked with a couple of women that were pregnant. A couple things happened that bugged the fuck out of me.

#1 Didn't matter what nature of skank they were pre-preg, once they were preg they thought they were Mother fucking Teresa.

#2 They thought they could act anyway they wanted to because they were pregnant.

Harsh? Yep. nod

When I became pregnant the first time I was blessed to be able to work as I did prior to being preg. Now I know that is a blessing, and for those who TRULY have rough pregnancies, I have nothing but support for them.

I made a point to NOT bring my pregnancy to work as much as possible. I was pregnant...not ill....so I still did all work tasks that did not require I lift more than 20 lbs and honestly really made an effort to not be unpleasant. In fact...I worked until about 5 days before my first was born and asked to be taken off the schedule because I could see I was getting really unpleasant to be around. lol

Now, that's how I see it....how my coworkers saw it would be a different story I'm sure.

I DO NOT believe that pregnancy is a blank check for assy behavior.

falloff
to be fair, of all the pregnant co-workers I've ever had (6 over the years) the only one that was awful was one that terminated at 6 weeks, which was very traumatic for her, of course, but she refused to treat her depression or take time off, and pretty much was a pain in the collective office ass for the next 6 months (during which time I was pregnant).
All the others were absolutely lovely, and had us all going to the shops for hot dogs at 10am and choc-o-clock at 4pm biggrin

In the time I speak of, I was in the USNavy. I worked with barracks rats. Young women that made the rounds with the men in the barracks. When they got preg, they thought the world was suppose to stop for them.

The last young woman I worked with that was preg handled it with a lot of grace and I have a TON of respect for her.

When I was overdue with the third one I made a deal with them c-section if I didn't go into labour myself before week 41 (that was when I went into labour with first kid) and thank goodness I did beg

Oh gosh...that SPD sounds awful!
One thing i hated when i was being induced..they would not let me get out of bed & walk or even STAND!

mad & i Knew that would speed things up...they also gave me too much epidural medicine so i could not feel my legs & could not push~~~ although i could feel every contraction.

They had to use forceps to get my son out..he was 8lbs 3oz & a healthy boy. Hard to believe he is in collage now~~

shit...Im OLD! lol

Here they don't, and only if you beg for it confused which I was about 3 minutes into hard labour, I could NOT cope with that at all! dead

it's normal for some women to be moody...but as someone else said...it's not a blank check to be a nasty bitch. I was a bit emotional at first...with my first child but never at work. I, like nothinbutjoy, worked through both my pregnancies right up till like a week before...my feet hurt, my back hurt towards the end but all in all I had great pregnancies. Never sick, felt really good...it was an exciting time for me.
oh...and you're wrong about men not being able to get away with the shit women do...only because they would NEVER make it, they would NEVER be able to handle it at all. sorry...but that's the truth.

i was working with this girl once who on monday evening went home and took a pregnancy teat and came into work on tuesday after testing positive a totally changed person.

from the minute she found out she was preggers she turned into a nightmare, she couldn't lift anything , took longer breaks, etc. i was so glad when she went on maternity leave.

You also need to consider the immense hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy. Imagine how you would react if every couple of hours you took a different hormone drug.

U know when I was preganant with my second child another kitchen hand I worked with was pregnant at the same time. I left after a couple of months because the kitchen I was working in ( we worked at a casino and there was more than one kitchen ) was far too hot and small and had no air conditioning.....
I was so Impressed by my co-worker however..this was her first baby and she not only worked up until she was a few days off her due date eek She was Diabetic so all during her pregnancy she had to inject herself several times a damn day and she was so lovely and pleasant the whole time I have to give her much respect biggrin biggrin
