Ferris Bueller

I constantly see the phrase "Anybody? Bueller?" on the Interweb. Can somebody enlighten me as to the context of this quote?

lol

I say this a lot too..."bueller, bueller, buller.....frye"

I forget who the teacher was but he was very mundane and would draw everything out. So when he's taking attendance he keeps repeating Ferris' last name, like 10 times and then goes to "Frye".

I think it means, is anyone here ditching school/work. As he was in the movie.
Then again, what do I know. shrug

I always see it when no one has responded to a poster's question (which makes sense, now).

The part that ALWAYS kills me is when Jennifer Gray kicks the principal(?) in the balls.

The way she screams and kicks. KILLS ME!!!!!

Then years later, the actor that played the principal got arrested for having child porn or something like that.

I think the interpretation is that the person who posts whatever he is posting, assuming it's in the form of a question is expecting an immediate response, but then assumes that he won't get one, hence the phrase( after a pregnant pause) ..".... Bueller ?! "

Ewww yes. I did hear about that. He was trading them with Paul Reubens or something. Although Paul Reubens said they were vintage arty pictures.

It's sort of an iconic scene that resonated with anyone who had gone through high school with oblivious teachers. The phrase sort of became a cultural phenomenon at the time and more or less meant "is anyone there, can you hear me hello, is this thing on?" or when trying to solicit a response from a group when there is no response.

"...something D-O-O economics...anyone? anyone? Voodoo Economics..."

I love this movie...it came out at a time when every teenage movie was loaded with sexual innuendo...F.B.D.O. was the polar opposite...it had some kids skipping school...going to a ballgame...going to a parade...and eating pancreas....a good fucking movie...

I'd have to add SIXTEEN CANDLES to the lot.

I haven't watched Sixteen Candles as much.

My best friend was all about Weird Science.

I loved Weird Science. Anthony Michael Hall was genius in that. Robert Downey Jr. was sooooo hot in it.
