when you think a character is attractive but not the actor playing them... ...isn't that a strange feeling?
And why do you suppose it happens? Is it some aspect of the fictional character's personality that appeals to you, or is there something else at play? I'll throw out a few of my own examples for ya. I think the new version of The Joker in The Dark Knight is the hottest thing to come across the screen since ever. No, really. But Heath Ledger never did a thing for me. Silent Bob is cute as hell to me, but as big a fan as I am, I don't think I'd fuck Kevin Smith even if I was paid to. Brian Slade/Maxwell Demon of Velvet Goldmine is stunning, but Jonathan Rhys Meyers is just kinda eh. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Denzel Washington was pretty fine in Training Day but he's not my type really. Don't get me wrong, he's not unattractive but I don't see why women go crazy over him. surviving on the thought of loving you, it's just like the water

I fell in love with Ennis del Mar, the character that Heath Ledger played
in Brokeback Mountain but I never cared for Heath, physically speaking, in other movies

Interview with the Vampire marked the first time I ever found Tom Cruise (who played the vampire Lestat) attractive.
I also found Brad Pitt as vampire Louis and Vincent Perez as vampire Marius in sequel Queen of the Damned attractive, while both actors leave me altogether unimpressed elsewhere. [Edited 9/30/08 6:38am] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Just for you (and me, I guess ) FYI for those pitching a fit about how he looks in the movie as if he looked like that in real life...im sure MUCH of that is makeup and lighting. even the prettiest can look haggard in the right lighting. so add to it that they purposefully did so in the movie.

Ditto that for my view of Brad Pitt. My eyes work fine -I can see he's a good looking guy, but I don't know why people fall all over themselves at how hot he is. Except in Interview. The undead worked for him. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I'm not sure any of the big or small screen Draculas I've seen did it for me. Which is funny, because that character is essentially where the "sexy vampire" archetype was born, and I tend to find vampire characters appealing. I actually don't like Bela Lugosi's Drac at all. Is his just the definitive version because it was the first? Yeah, yeah, I know Nosferatu came first, but he was done in the more traditional folkloric "grotesque monster" style, so it's not really the same thing. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
