I was busy looking for a pic of "Alexander's Dept. Store" in Google. I was thinking of those 3, too!
(Then Ohrbachs became Steinbachs).

Oh, and, BAMBERGERS! giggle

I remember Caldor's! The one we had became a Bradlees, then finally a Target.

We used to shop at Zayre's ("We'd like to make Zayre's your store!"), which then became an Ames, then of course a Target. lol

The Woolworth's where I grew up had stood there for over a hundred years when they tore it down in the 90s to put in a block of Foot Lockers, GAPs and what have you. sad

You could get anything there!

I think the group that owns Footlocker bought the Woolworth's stores.

It's strange how fast things disappear. I remember there being an Eatons in Edmonton, but I couldn't tell you now where it was or if I was ever in it.

The mall in Kelowna used to have one of these. Even though it was part of a chain, it was a really good place to get older or hard-to-find music.

I worked at the actual store pictured (was known as "the main store").
