I recommend the original over the American one! Both are funny, but the original is funnier.

Doh. Of course the Uk version is better. It's sublime.

Just you wait til Little Britain US hits the tube. I've seen previews.

We get Little Britain in Canada.

They just finished a series with some of the UK characters in the US and some new US characters.

I have to agree with you guys about The Office. The UK one is funnnier, but the USA one has John Krasinski. So I think they are about even. redface

No love for Firefly?

You could try Pushing Daisies. It was probably my favorite new show last year. It's hard to describe, but it's interesting and fun.

My favorite show ever is NewsRadio. I have all the lines memorized and it still makes me laugh! lol

I didn't really like Firefly. I gave a few episodes a watch, but the dialogue got a bit silly for me in some parts. I seem to recall a female character talking about not getting laid by saying it'd been a while since she'd had man "twixt my whithers." falloff

My favorite show on the air right now is MAD MEN. It's about a 1960s NY advertising firm. Fantastic acting, writing, music and fashion. It won lots of Emmy awards this month. You can rent season one on DVD and season two currently airs on AMC. There are only 13 episodes per season so it won't be that big of an investment time-wise.

I've heard a lot of good things about this one. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

Kaylee said that. That was awesome. lol

The series did take place far in the future. Slang of the times will no doubt sound strangely to us.

I can't bring myself to watch it. Everyone knows vampires don't walk around in the daytime. lol

Normally I don't have a problem dissociating actors from the characters they play, but David Boreanaz and James Marsters will always be Angel and Spike to me.

Well I can't be loyally watching a show every week if it's making me do spit-takes, can I? I don't happen to care for wearing my tea. razz

David Boreanaz was the only reason I started watching Bones. I admit it was strange at first seeing him deliver one liners and laughing all the time, but I got over it eventually. If anything, now it's a little weird whenever I go back and watch the Buffy and Angel reruns.

I don't know about that. I had a hard time even watching James do interviews during the series run because he'd drop the accent. lol

Maybe one of these days I'll give it another try. A lot of Buffy and Angel fans dig it, so there must be something there I'd like.

woot! Books kick ass. Right now I'm working my way through the complete works of Rimbaud. That the guy gave up poetry when he was younger than I am now and wrote such powerful works boggles the mind. Most 21 year olds these days can barely string together a proper sentence, nevermind an epic poem.

I think US TV shows are generally of amazing quality lately. John Cazar, who's producer and director on 24, said "we're living in another golden age of television so let's enjoy it" when he won Best Direction at the Golden Globes in 2005 (I think). And it's not just the production and cinematography and other technical things, the concept and stories of many shows have been very unique and sometimes innovative.

Still, House tops them all. biggrin

I could rave on the two fantastic BBC costume drama series that came out last year, but I see it's all US series.
