The mall in Kelowna used to have one of these. Even though it was part of a chain, it was a really good place to get older or hard-to-find music.

I worked at the actual store pictured (was known as "the main store").

Really? I'm so jealous. How was it working there?

It was a record store (albeit one of the largest ones in the world). shrug

I'm sure I found it quite thrilling back then, but that was a long, long time ago. Quite a lot of celebrities used to come in.

I'd love to work in a record store. I never have though because I'd be afraid of spending my whole paycheque there. lol

It's bad enough I work somewhere now that has free food. I'm such a sucker for workplace perks.

For now, anyway. lol

Most "record stores" these days also sell movies and games. But there's still all kinds of old school music stores that sell nothing but music. Here, at least. They're usually independently run and tiny as hell, but I try to buy all my music from those places now.

There're lots of indie stores here. I would frequent them, but I have enough attitude on my own and I don't like music.

;lol: Yeah, that's kind of a drawback of the indie scene. Too much attitude and "cooler-than-thou" walking around. I keep my head down, make my purchases, and take off. Just because I'd rather shop at Charlie's Music Shop over Future Shop doesn't mean I want to start thinking I'm superior.

The Woolworth's where I grew up had stood there for over a hundred years when they tore it down in the 90s to put in a block of Foot Lockers, GAPs and what have you. sad

You could get anything there!

I think the group that owns Footlocker bought the Woolworth's stores.

I worked at Monkey Wards for 7 years right before they went belly up.

Shopko is still around in Madison, WI. I used to shop there rather than go to WalMart.
