Yes, all the whitening strip products on the market work (Crest, Rembrant, etc.)

To see proof, do just the upper first.
After 7 days you'll noticed the difference. Sometimes, dramatically.

People often compliment me on my teeth being white, and they're not professionally done. I just use the strips ever 6 months or so. It's using the same thing that your dentist gives you to bleach your teeth--peroxide. Just in a smaller dose--hence, having to use them for about 10 days to 2 weeks. It's worth it though for only 20 bucks or so.

Tried Crest Whitestrips when I was still smoking.

Found it to be a pain in the ass and they made my teeth overly sensitive.

Seem to recall reading there's some paste, or something, called "Night Effects" that's better?

so the cap matches the whitening you had before?

yep, well as close as they could get it. It's amazing when you look closely how much color variation there is on a single tooth! It's like hair, and part of the reason that the more you alter your appearance the harder it is to get a natural look.

A few months ago I bit on some chocolate that I'd had in the fridge and broke about a third of one of my bottom rear teeth. I put that down to the very hard chocolate coming down on the very edge of my tooth.

Then 2 days ago I was biting some soft (but very chewy) candy and broke a small part of an upper rear tooth on the other side of my mouth.

I'm almost certain it's down to teeth whitening products I've used. I stopped using them earlier this year when the edges of my teeth started going transparent. I brush either 2 or 3 times a day, depending on where I am at lunch, and I use mouthwash 3 or 4 times a day, but the teeth whitening (and probably my smoking) has really messed up my teeth. Next year when I get back from the UK I'm going to throw a load of money at a dentist and see if they can just fix everything that needs it. neutral

I should add that what's left of my teeth is whiter than before, though. lol

I just read about this on WebMd http://www.webmd.com/oral...-addiction it's something that's happening alot. people have become additiced to whitening strips or whitening their teeth until they're teeth become almost transparent.

A few years ago I used Crest Whitestrips, just for the week or 2 weeks or whatever it was. They worked pretty well and didn't cause any real problems. I left it quite a while, then got some strong 22% peroxide stuff that you put in trays, and used that for a couple of weeks. More time passed, maybe 6 months, and I started using this toothpaste that's about 9% strength. The rear of the packaging and the instructions are dodgy. One part suggests using it half and half with your toothpaste and another part suggests swilling it around in your mouth for 15 minutes before brushing. I did the latter for a couple of months, not every day or anything, but just when I remembered, and that is what has done the damage, I think. I'm taking lots of calcium supplements to try to stop the problems, but I think I'm going to have to see a dentist and get my teeth sorted. I think they're really quite badly weakened. sad

my dentist will not do teeth whitening on his patients, he sends them to someone else to have that doen because they do weaken your teeth and make them ultra sensative. he also told me that there's nothing that can be done for the sensativity issue other then riding it out. I'd never heard any of this before he told me about it and that's when I came across the article. I rinse with peroxide before I brush but I've been doing that since I was little.

Thailand has far better dentistry than both the US and UK for much cheaper if you look.

They have a thriving dental and medical "tourism" trade there.

One trick to whitening teeth is to eat strawberries ALOT.

Also, you can grind strawberries up and brush your teeth with them before brushing our teeth. Over time they will whiten.

There's a compound in strawberries that removes stains from enamel.

Yep, which is why I'm hoping to get as much done as possible, not just the odd fix here and there. Might as well just put crowns on all of them and be done with it. lol

That's the irony of it. Strawberries easily stain clothing, but actually whiten teeth. lol

Everything in moderation people!!!

If you don't over use them you will be fine. They DO work, but I would suggest using some Sensodyne toothpaste because you will be a little more sensitive. After that you can brush with baking soda and peroxide to keep them nice and white.

I highly suggest everyone uses them! I hate yellow teeth! barf
