Have you ever considered the "Legend" of Jesse James? I watched "The Assassination of Jessie James by the Coward Robert Ford" today.
Seems many people venerated James and he reached hero status even before his death. James claimed to be striking victories for the former confederacy, although in reality his crimes never showed any political motivation. So homeboy was: 1. A thief. 2. A murderer. 3. A liar. 4. Generally a douchebag. Any thoughts on why people still romanticize his deeds and existence? Would you be proud to be descended from him? Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

newspapers at the time romanticized him and his gang as a kind of robin hood, but mostly only to increase their own circulation. Would you be proud to be descended from him? at this point in history i'd rather be descended from him than from, say, kenneth lay of enron or any one of the other dickwad corporate raiders who've run wall street into the gutter. you want real bank robbers? take a look at who is 'trading' on wall street today....

History is written by popular culture. It's sad but true. Tales of the old west were made to be the stories that made men bigger than greek gods. The fact is, it was a time of lawlessness and these men were criminals and murderers. Don't get me started on my favorite story, Wyatt Erp and Tombstone.
Nobody ever wants to talk about the atrocities committed in the name of Democracy by this country either. Seeing as how we as a country have over 300 years of history, why do you think that is?
