I had to have a hysterectomy at age 32. So, I know what you mean with the hot flashes. I do take HRT, but I still get them. The glorious part is of course no more periods. No mood swings for me.

I remember when my mom was going through it. She was a total bitch for 10 years. lol

Hang in there! If you haven't already, read up on all the info you can find regarding this phase of your life.

All women (okay many women) know it's coming, but have no idea what to expect or do to deal with the symptoms.

I don't get hot flashes, for some reason. My younger sisters do, but I don't. shrug

Of course, now that I've said that... rolleyes

I take Extra Strength Estroven and have had a very smooth experience.....it is herbal and over-the-counter.....I would try that before taking HRT....there are too many proven dangers....

Actually, it depends on what kind of hormone therapy you use. There are very few risks associated with bio-identical hormones. But you need to see a doctor who specializes in them - and have access to a compounding pharmacy.

I would NEVER take HRT...it can really mess up your head & body. plus i have Endo...so no estrogen for me!~
i have been using progesterone cream for yrs..it helps a bit..also evening primrose caps for irritability/mood swings.

I am 49 & its getting worse..I mean the periods are longer & heavier & I am an emotional wreak~ sad
sorry but you may be in for a long bumpy ride~~
