I've cancelled Christmas I'm fed up to here with my parents and sister and the complication they make of Christmas every year
My dad's cousin is coming to my city (from overseas) for 4 days - 24–28th December. As soon as I heard, I was like "great!!! have Christmas with us" Turns out my parents told him as early as July this year, that they will be away Dec 20–31st. They only told ME that last week. Turns out my sister and her family will ALSO be away camping over Christmas, to avoid her in-laws she says My in-laws, god bless them, were so excited my relatives will be in town, and want me to bring them to their house on Dec 24th so we can celebrate together, now THAT is real Christmas spirit.

thank god. i'm really sick of christmas. can we just have dinner with the extended family and stop worrying about buying a bunch of crap for each other that we don't really need or want?
i think i'm doing the charitable donation thing again this year, both as a giver and a receiver. i'm over "stuff." and though i still buy a lot of "stuff," namely clothes, i'd really prefer to just buy it myself instead of going back and returning/exchanging it all the next day.

Awwww. That sucks, C.
Family sometimes makes the holidays ruf. I have decided to keep it small; meaning I just going to stay at home and cook something small, yet luscious and watch a whole bunch of romantic comedies. For the first time my mother passed away I really feel like having myself a merry little Xmas. My Xmas feeling never was in the dinner or the gifts anyways; to me, Xmas is all about putting up a tree. I have had a fake one the last decade, but this year I want a real one, so I can do my mum's antique Xmas decorations justice. The 6th of December I will get myself a HUGE tree and play Phil Spector and Harry Connick Jr Xmas songs REAL loud. And Frank Sinatra and all them oldies.

The 2 best christmases were when I made gifts for my parents, one was a CD of music we made, and one was a book I wrote. We laughed until we nearly threw up.

They're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.
