Soon-to-published? Other than my musings about Prince and his music, I've written at least seven works of fiction since high school.
Over the past week, I've read through something I wrote all the way back in the spring of 2003. It's funny when you look over your old writing and see how much your style has changed. I've made a few minor changes regarding spelling, grammar, syntax, etc. This being the first time I'd read it through in 3 years (my last attempt at publishing it), it was an adventure and filled with surprises. I submitted my manuscript yesterday and just received this email: "Thank you for your submission "Nina and the Voice in the Wind". You have sent all that we require at this time. You should expect to hear from one of our acquisitions editors within the next two weeks regarding the status of your manuscript. Best regards, Denise PublishAmerica" This is so exciting! I'll keep everyone up-to-date on this, but one of my dreams could soon come true. A few years ago, I started a website for my work and an earlier draft of this piece can be found there. Those interested in reading it, I'll post the link. http://www.angelfire.com/...index.html [Edited 9/15/08 13:42pm] had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. Sounds like a vanity press... We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I got an email today (the day after I got the first, mind u), saying that I got accepted and the contract is in the mail for me to sign. I emailed them back and said that I've changed my mind without really letting on why. That's the best I can do for now. Right now, I'm going to try copyrighting the work I sent them just in case they try to do anything with it. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

Yeah, but doesn't self-publishing cost a lot of money? That's the whole reason the first place I tried had me scared out of my mind because they were charging 1,000's of dollars for me to get into their program. I'm currently a college senior (not in writing, mind you) and don't have cash to fund my ventures in publishing. Doing research is something I really havent done with the places that look good at first sight, but I hardly have time for that. I know I'm on this site A LOT, but I can at least balance that with my schoolwork. I just filled out an application to copyright the work I sent to 2 places and neither panned out for me. So at least my beloved work will be protected. It's most likely the one I'll be publishing first out of all my works, so I might as well copyright that before all the others. I have at least 6 other finished works of fictions, 5 are of novel-length. And I'm still writing too I'll bounce back and thanks for the kind words I've gotten so far had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone
