Any songwriters have this problem?

Often times when I am falling asleep and really tired I will get a brilliant song/lyric idea that I am too lazy to get up and write down (even when the pen and paper are right near me 2, and I repeat over and over so I will remember it in the morning and it usually never works, so my brillance is forever lost-- sad

it happened again last night

I use the recorder on my cell phone from time to time. Do you have one?

Well what's more important? Being lazy or putting forth the effort to capture your song idea before it leaves?

it's happened a few times to me as well, just last week in fact. I do have a keyboard and could have run to it, but unfortunately it was in my car.

I hadn't written songs in years, but a few times I was up and got a few idea so I jotted them down and came up with a melody and wrote down the notes and everything, and could imagine the music. But the next day when I tried to revive it, it wasn't quite the same anymore.

Also, I find that sometimes experiences inspire me to write. I was dating a guy and was getting nothing out of it and my mind was on career development, so I took a bunch of phrases of all the thoughts in my head and made it into a song, I hope to set it to music soon.

exactly. Everyone has good ideas, but artists recognize them and capture them when they happen and place them within the context of their art.

You have to wake up and write it down. Or keep a BLANK piece of paper and you can even write in the dark if you have to! smile
