new York from Europe

hey y'all I'd just like a bit of advice if possible...

I'm taking my little brother to new York in November but he is only 20 and a half years old. Will we have trouble getting in to places as he's not 21?

Also do you guys have any advice on places to go with live music?

Cheers

Some places may give him a hard time, if it is a restaurant/bar they will probably be a bit more lenient.

There are sooooo many places to go to see live bands in NY, but my favorite places are in the Village...On Bleecker Street are The Bitter End, Wicked Willy's and The Red Lion. On 3rd (one block over from Bleecker) are The Fat Black Pussy Cat, Groove and a few others. I spend a bit of time with the band Days of Wild, but they haven't done up there schedule for that far in advance. I usually post their schedule here and on HQ so keep checking, also send me a PM as it gets closer to your time and the group I spend time with can let you know what's up and maybe meet up with you.

I've just updated my thread on the Days of Wild Shows to include the October dates. The guys are still booking the November dates as I type this. I will keep you posted as I get more information.

As for ID, typically they ask for a Driver's License or some form of photo ID. If you are unable to get anything for him, you could try telling the bouncer that you have traveled all the way from the UK to see this band in particular and that you vouch that your brother and that you will not allow him to drink anything but soda. It's a big deal here to not serve underage customers, a bar could lose their liquor and/or cabaret license if they are caught doing so.
