Must have been my dad. One of my earliest memories is sitting on a rooftop overhanging a city street, next to my dad who played guitar and sang to the passersby. [Edited 9/15/08 19:47pm]

It was a combination of certain videos I watched growing up (Kiss, Sister Fate...) and having an excellent collection of pop and funk LP's at home (courtesy of my uncle).

My mother played classical music for me when I was a baby (or so she tells it). We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

My parents' record/album collection mostly.
No, actually... My dad's method of babysitting was turning on MTV and leaving me alone with the TV. Keep in mind that this was in 1986-7 when they had the really good music videos on So not only did I love music at an early age, but that explains why I'm so in love with 80's music. I've since taken part in chorus (ages 3-4) and concert choir (grades 11-12, college year 1-semester II) because I love to sing. My dad also gave me a Casio for my 8th or 10th birthday and I still have it with me. When the boybands came along, I started collecting music of my own and it eventually lead me all the way to Prince who made me see music in ways I never thought possible. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

My dad mostly. He knows black american music backwards and forwards from chants to rocknroll to rap. I always had a mild intrerst in music history...but not much. It was more of an unconcious thing...
The floodgates of hell kind of opened when I discovered Prince, and I started to collect music based off of his influences and contemporaries. Which is why my ass is now three months behind modern music. Geez.

As far as I can remember my grandma was babysitting me while my mum was working. she had Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker record and played it often.
She had Borodine's Polovtsian Dances as well, at the time I thought that was the only music in the world (If only I knew ) I was like 3 and maybe that's the reason why I asked for ballet classes. Music and dance have always been bound together in my universe. My mother played the radio a lot in her store; fisrt standard I can remember are Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Donna Summer... Afterwards I looked throught my parents record collection where I found some interesting gems among shity stuff (like Dire Straits, Alan Parson's Project and stuff...) And there it is Is there any place of refuge one can flee from this insanity
