Acrylic Nails Ladies, do you prefer wearing Acrylic Nails on a daily basis, or only for occasions (weddings, cotillion, fashion show)?
Men, do you prefer women who wear Acrylic nails, or all natural? I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I use to enjoy wearing them on a daily basis, but now I will only put a set on for special occasions...if that. Proud Memaw to Seyhan Olivia Christine ,Zoey Cirilo Jaylee & Ellie Abigail Lillian

Yes I understand that. I use to wear them all the time in high school and in college, but now I don't really have the time (or the money) to maintain them like I could in the past. I guess its a part of getting older, but what's sad is that I have a nail technician's license and I actually do nails part time. I don't even have time to maintain my own nails, if I want them done, I have to have them done by somebody else because if I do them, it will take hours since i'm such a perfectionist. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I'm a little confused. With true acrylics (the kind that are "built" in a salon), once they're on, they're on. You don't just put them on for an occasion, then have them taken off (because they pretty much trash your own nails).
The kind you buy in the drug store and stick on aren't really "acrylics." At least - that's not how I think of them. They're just garden-variety fakes. I have shit for nails - so I've had acrylics for a long time. I have fills done every two weeks. They're very durable and, unless I out them as acrylics, people don't know they aren't my natural nails. I get complimented on my nails a lot. My man loves them - because my hands are a lot prettier with them than they were without. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I can't stand them! I haven't worn them since my prom, senior year in high school, long time ago! Rhythm floods my heart♥The melody it feeds my soul

I do like the way they look but it looks so fake and that usually just comes off as tacky.

Ex-Moderator | I did them a few times for fun when I was younger, I even tried doing them myself, with OK results, but it took me forever.
Now I would NEVER do them. I have nice enough nails naturally and it ruins your nails underneath and takes forever for them to regrow out to normal. (Same reason I won't color my hair black anymore, even though I've been aching to lately. ) I do think many acrylics look tacky, but I've seen very nice, classy ones as well. I have never seen ones that look "real" though. But that's not the point. |

I have acrylic nails. I have been wearing them for years. I have always kept them short. I love nail polish, especially dark colors. So acrylics, in my opinion, look nice on me. My natural nails always break beacuse of all the typing I do.
Acrylics are a bitch to take care of, but its worth it. Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize u simply imagined this So u lean over and give her a kiss Here on earth, here on earth, with u it's not so bad Here on earth, here on earth eye don't feel so sad Stay right here

Acrylics are a bitch to take care of, but its worth it. Me, too. I think that's the key to having them look natural. "Dragon lady" wouldn't be my thing. Well, except for the OPI Bogotá Blackberry polish. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I've only worn them about 4 times in my life. On three of those times, I was trying to look cute like the popular girls. Thing is, I'm a tomboy kinda gal. I also blog/type/write heavily to the point where either my keyboard would be scratched up or my face and eyes would be a hot mess from the flying/popped off nails. I'm just not that kind o girl. I guess that if I ever get married, I will wear them then. Or if someone has me in their wedding or something. But other than that, no no no. No acrylic for this sista.

I would not do them. I don't like the way they feel or look. I have had them a couple of times in the past. It is sort of like when you see someone that has their teeth so white it just doesn't look right. They look too perfect IMO. Plus I'm not allowed to wear them at work. The rules state that they can only be 1/4" past the tip of the finger and no nail polish. That's fine with me because it just gives me a legitimate excuse to pay no attention to my nails.

Whats the differense between regullar nail-polish? Freedom is to trust that you're doing what you must according to your lust

Gimmesomehorns said: Whats the differense between regullar nail-polish? acrylic has nothing to do with nail polish...you can wear nail polish on your natural nails on your acrylic nails. Acrylic nails are actually tips made out of plastic that are glued to the clients tip of her natural nail. You must buff the excess glue off and then apply the polymer and monomer...a.k.a. the powder and liquid combination which will form "acrylic" on the tip of the nail and the rest of the natural nail. See the pictures below. Sometimes the acrylic powder can come in different color powders such as pink, bright pink, white, whitest white, peach, natural and clear.

One thing you will never see me with is a french manicure. I think they're tacky beyond belief. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Acrylics are a bitch to take care of, but its worth it. You wear what they call "active length"...when I've gotten them in the past, that's the length I would get. I would wear only dark colors as well...no fire engine red dragon lady nails here

My thoughts exactly. I find them tacky as hell. Natural nails that are clean and clippled nicely are the most attractive IMO.
