My dept. is going to be moving to St. Louis in March 2009, but I'm not moving with them, so I'm currently been applying for a slew of jobs so that I can get another one ASAP but i've been starting to get annoyed by the little "please give your ethnicity" question at the end of each application. I mean why does all of that really matter? It's suppose to depend on the education and experience that you have for the position, not by what the color of my skin is or my ethnic makeup. Maybe its the company's way of trying to "even" everything out culturally wise because you know company's claim they are trying to be culturally diverse now, but to me, it's even more reason to pick and choose what "kind" of person they want working for their company.

I'm a bit ambivalent about it, and have done differently during different parts of my life. Nowadays, I list it.

I usually check "other" and write in "Human" on any form that asks anything like that
