I was going home last night, just popped out to do some shopping and got off the tube around 8pm, when a gang of youths crashed me against a wall, roughed me up a bit and took my bag.

I am so upset and still shaky after the experience. This hasnt happened to me before.

Unfortunately the police took details, but it doesnt look good or likely they will catch these guys.
It has really rocked my confidence somewhat, couldnt sleep last night at all and feel dreadful today.

So girls when you are going home alone, becareful.. sad

Red I'm sorry for what you've gone through. It can be a very traumatic experience. I agree with blackadder about looking into victim counseling. Many states are now offering free counseling to victims of crime under the VOCA program (Victims of Crime Act), and this covers everything from child abuse survivor, domestic violence, as well as crimes such as being mugged. I would really look into seeing whether your state offers any counseling under the VOCA program. This can definitely impact your sleep for awhile, and can also cause you to experience PTSD symptoms, such as flashbacks, anxiousness, depression. But it can also cause agoraphobia in some people. So please, if you feel like it begins to (or has impacted your life) in such a way that it interfers with quality of life, seek therapeutic counseling with someone who is trained in helping individuals who have been victimized. And please take care of yourself, and do something nice for yourself. You deserve it. Also, don't fall into self-blame or believe there was something you could have done to prevent it. You were not in a situation to stop it from happening.

*Taking off my therapist hat* (Unfortunately it's a side effect of the trade.) Just be well.

Damn, girl! I've been there. A little stick up kid came to my car opened the door put a gun in my face and I gave him my purse. Little Mobb Deep mother fuckers. I don't think they were any older than 15.

Girl I've been there. It was in the parking lot of ma apartment complex too. I worked mornings, so I was always nervous walking ot my car in the dark at 5 am. And I STILL don't play around with that shit. I NEVER walk to the car by myself after hours.

omg NO! Not my Nicole! pissed Oh jeez sweetie, are you ok? Did they get your phone? Please let me know if I can ring you at some number. My mobile's down until I get a pay-as-you-go card but my landline is the usual number.
You should really look into getting some mace and a pocket alarm, one of those that makes a godawful noise when you pull the pin out. I don't know if mace is legal in England but I don't care.
Love you sweetie, I really hope you're ok. hug heart
