Next time a Jehova's Witness knocks on your door, say you're gay and check out the reaction/speed they run away, if Prince is dead serious about that Religion, it's a pretty safe bet he'd share their actions.

I know that I'm going to sound like a dimwit here, but I've never quite worked out what Prince was trying to say with that line. Anybody know? 'Gay' was a word used in the late 19th/early 20th century as a synonym for the word 'happy'. The line "Nowadays 'happy' ain't allowed", alludes to the fact that gay service men are forbidden from remaining in the military. This is exemplified by the marching sound you hear in the background while that line's being sung. | |
