Any BBQ-lovin' South Carolina Orgers here?

I'm taking the family to Myrtle Beach on vacation (again).

This time, I really want to try some AUTHENTIC southern-style barbecue. Ribs, brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. And I mean authentic, not those chain restaurants that are all over the place with all-you-can-eat buffets and lines of people waiting for hours just to get slabs of dry, tasteless crap.

I want a place that starts cooking the pig at 4:00AM so that it's falling off the bone by dinnertime.

drooling

Anyone here have a recommendation?

In Myrtle Beach you'll find more seafood restaurants than barbecue restaurants. My suggestion is find one of the little dives along the boardwalk at Barefoot Landing.

thumbs up!
Thanks! Yeah, crab is big down there, huh?
Last year we got lost trying to get to Barefoot Landing (don't ask)...so this year I'm armed with a mapquest sheet and I'll hopefully get there just fine.

I'm back!

sad ...sorry to say I didn't have any good BBQ.

The closest I got was a BBQ pork sandwich at a corner eatery called "Peaches".

It was OK.

I didn't see anything at Barefoot Landing (the kids were hot & cranky so we went to a crab restaurant...EXCELLENT crabcake sandwich!!!)

Still pining for a good BBQ tho'.
sigh

Sorry I didn't see this thread before. I lived down there for most of my life. Driving from MB between Pawley's Island and Georgetown there's a little shack in between some pine trees on the right side of the road. The best BBQ in the world is made there. Every time we came from MB, we stopped and got some.

Next time..... wink

Shit. The best BBQ in the country is in Illinois. Jim's Rib Haven can take the pepsi challenge with any southern BBQ and whoop their ass.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

it's not coincidence that you used shit and Illinois in the same sentence...
