um the first time he has sex of course ... ..oh and Im not sure u put a son on birth control...pretty sure he can walk into a store and buy it himself (so it would be more about what age should u educate him about using protection) [Edited 9/5/08 18:21pm]

15 maybe too late there are 12 years olds having sex and kids having kids. IMHO start early on both with sex talk and condoms and explain WHAT a condom is ( I have already explained what a condom does and what it looks like with my daughter) Smurf theme song-seriously how many fucking "La Las" can u fit into a dam song

My parents NEVER had a talk with me about sex at all, let alone birth control! If it were left to them, I'd still think I got here by way of a stork. And I'd be stupified by the fact I have a daughter. There are no storks in Cleveland! [Edited 9/5/08 21:45pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

As to the question, I'd want any son I had to use a condom and be responsible from the very first time he had sex. He'd get the instruction to do so as early as I thought he, as an individual, could handle it -- likely long before puberty even. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

My dad made a half-hearted attempt to talk to me about sex lol ...it basically consisted of talking for 5 minutes about how it was when he was my age, and how he could never imagine performing oral sex on a woman...then taking me to see a James Bond film so that I could see the silhouettes of naked women during the credits ...

I've told my older three sons that....."if you are not comfortable going into the store to buy condoms then you are not old enough to have sex" It isn't the load that breaks us down, it's the way we carry it.

I asked my 16 year old niece "Could you go out, right now, and get a job that pays you enough to find an apartment, work full time while pregnant, afford a sitter after you give birth, and buy a workable car, car insurance, inevitable car repairs, diapers, pediatrician visits, and baby food--withOUT the help of your father or any family members?...Because if you can't, then you might want to consider if you feel you're actually ready for sex. A baby is a lot more than just an obstacle to an orgasm." That's not the ONLY thing I told her, of course ...we talked about numerous things concerning sex and when it is/isn't appropriate. But that part fit in with what you just said ...

The talk started at an early about age 8. We live very close to family planning clinics, he knows them well. Plus we have extensive sex-ed classes here in public schools, his was 5th & 8th grade, so that helped. [Edited 9/6/08 0:03am]

The best I got was when my midewestern by way of the Delta southern belle mother asked me at age 13 (?): "Miss Lady, do you know where babies come from?..." Me being the quietly studious and precocious child I was, walked right over to the bay window, picked up my newly purchased hardbound copy of "Masters & Johnson: On Sex and Human Loving". I handed it to her, nodded "uh huh" , she said "Well, okay " and I walked away and went to work on a social studies project. That was the sum of our discussion on sexuality, and actually my adult mother of two kept that book glued to HER eyeballs for several days after that

By the time I got around to Sex Ed in school, my teachers were shocked at how I was throwing around clinical terms and whatnot. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
