Expensive mistakes...

Don't you just HATE when you make a mistake and it costs an arm & a leg!!!

(And NO I'm not talkin' about children...)

Tell me a tale of your most expensive mistake, maybe I'll feel better...

Mine's work related and boring but it goes a little somethin' like this...

I manufacture Hospital Cubicle Track without holes pre-punched and I just ordered a big box of the stuff to replenish my low inventory. Problem is I ordered the stuff WITH HOLES... GRRR!! pissed

Now I have an ass-load of worthless product arriving here on a very expensive freight tag... So pissed right now!!! mad

I HATE it when I do stuff like that!!

My most recent expensive mistake involved auto body repair. Had a small dent w/ paint damage I needed to have fixed. Stupid that it happened anyway, but no big deal...but then I had to rent a car while my car was in the shop...again...no big deal...until the repairs took longer then they said...still not horrific

UNTIL....on the LAST day I'm renting the car I get a rock to the windshield. I hadn't insured the car because I have auto insurance....so I paid the windshield out of pocket.

So not so bad in the beginning, but twice as expensive as I thought in the end.

Over something STUPID!!!!

sigh
I'm firmly planted in denial

comfort

Stupid questions, because I just don't know any better:
Can you donate this product & take a tax break in 2009?

Provided that you can write the lost off - both lower price & freight expenditures? Can you find someone who'll take the product off of your hands\buy it. You can sweeten the deal by offering it at a lower price or say offer to pay for a portion of the freight expense.

Me:
I just purchased 29 Swiss 20Francs to grand total tune of US$7,500.00. Not knowing what the heck I was doing & only focusing on making up for the 13yrs of not having a pension plan with my former job (about 10k). When the price is more than I paid I'm selling them. I'm sticking to silver, from now on.

I could do that but ONLY as a last resort, I'm calling some of my hospitality connections right now to see if I have any takers because I DO want to sell it at a profit...

I also have a very interested buyer right here on the org... wink

I wasn't paying attention to checking the box that said "Do you want to require signature" for my Burning Man tix last year. We ended up buying them a second time.

I worked in a grocery store which had faulty wiring throughout...the refridgeration alarms would go off all the time without incident. Once, they went off, I was the one in the office, so I turned them off just like any other time. Except this time, the units actually did stop working.

The next day, I walk in and we have empty meat counters, cheese counters and deli counters....we lost about $12,000 in merchandise.

Ah, lesson learned.

woot!
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.
