Ex-Moderator | day 5! since my last cigarette.
I really do plan to quit for good this time. But I can't help but worry that this time will be like every other time I tried to quit. I don't need anyone to remind me of all the great reasons to quit, I know what they are. And I'm not ready for anyone to make jokes about it either. In fact, it would probably make me cry. No lie. Quitting smoking makes me very emotional. I've got my nicotine patch on, so I'm not freaking out, ready to scream at someone for looking at me wrong. There are no physical cravings, that's being taken care of. But it's like I left the iron on somewhere. All day. Since I got up this morning. And I don't know where the iron is even anymore. I can't stop thinking about it, obssessing over it. It's been 10 hours since my last cigarette. I would have smoked 3 by now if this were a normal weekday. It's been 19 hours since my last cigarette. I would have smoked about 9 cigarettes by this time on a normal weekday. I'm still not smoking. I'm not smoking now. Or now. Or now. Then I'll realize it's been a whole 10 minutes since I thought about it! That's a long stretch! Then I drink more water. I've been through over 90 ounces of liquids so far today, almost all water. And I've peed at least 13 times. And I took a different bus home on purpose. So I had to walk an additional 6 blocks to get home. Cause it was something to do. And then I wasn't standing at a bus stop next to other smokers while I waited for my normal bus. And now I have about 4 more hours to get through and I can go to sleep (hopefully) and then I can get up tomorrow and do it all over again. |

And even if you break down and have a puff, you are still doing WAY better than 19 hours ago! | |
