See that just totally proves that Matthew Barney is a sell-out, he's available for home video collection purchase. William Kentridge would never release his films like that!

Lammastide said: Anxiety said: the order (cremaster 3) Is the entire Cremaster Cycle available on DVD now? I wouldn't doubt it. You can probably rent them on Netflix or Blockbuster. (He's such a sell-out!) (Michael Kimmelman, the head art critic for the NY Times says Barney is the most important artist of our generation, I say he is the most overrated!)

Lammastide said: Anxiety said: the order (cremaster 3) Is the entire Cremaster Cycle available on DVD now? no...not legally, anyway. "the order" is just a portion of "cremaster 3", which is something like 3 1/2 hours long. it's pretty, though...and it comes with a trailer for all the films, which was the biggest selling point for me.

From memory (I'm not at home at the moment):
The Addams Family (1991) Addams Family Values (1993) And God Created Woman (1956) Angel Heart (1987) Angels & Insects (1995) Baise-Moi (2000) Batman (1989) Batman Returns (1992) Battle In Heaven (2005) Belle De Jour (1967) I think my list says I have way too many movies. analysis edit [Edited 8/25/08 11:09am]

It could be like Andy Warhol/Duchamp transposed: instead of taking a Brillo box or urinal and elevating it to "Art", Barney would be taking "Art" and making it mainstream. Although, I didn't really like when Murakami tried to pull that stunt, either. And they still wouldn't be that mainstream if they were limited edition...
