Well, after watching an old boyfriend of my mom's OD on heroin when I was 4 and the rest of my childhood being spent watching my parents get high or drunk, I find this discussion pretty disgusting...

Oh, for the record... I have never smoked a cigarette, used illegal drugs of any kind and I have only consumed alcohol on one occasion and that has been 20 years ago.

I have seen a GREAT number of people fucked up by drug use, as I was a touring musician for a number of years and have seen it all. I also have a university degree in neuroscience... I studied TONS of biochemistry and have taken a number of courses on neurochemistry and have studied the biological effects of various drugs.

Let it suffice to say that my studies have strengthened my already rock-hard resolve never to use drugs.

Neither. Life is far too short. Sad, but not unexpected, to read the celebratory tone of some of those responding affirmatively. People making dangerous personal choices and dying - it's really not very funny.

To those who also mentioned smoking (tobacco), agree that it kills millions more around the world each year. My problem with IceNine is his liberatrian ideal that drugs be "legalized" - not realizing that many people who have difficulty making healthful choices sometimes do so because they are otherwise "law-abiding."

As far as alcohol, at least there are voluminous data supporting moderate consumption as a healthful choice. Obviously, excessive consumption is unhealthy and dangerous, and I am grateful for laws that prohibit public drunkenness, especially while driving.

I ain't gonna lie, cocaine is an abolute freaking blast when you're in the middle of your high. You get a huge surge of contentment, and enthusiasm. You talk to everyone, dance your ass off, and run all over the place with excitement.

But the side effects are so extreme and taxing on your body (not to mention your checkbook) that it's not worth it at all.

When its 6:30am and you have to work at 9 and CANNOT force yourself to sleep...

When your sinuses drain like a rusty pipe...

When you come down off your last line and have no way of getting any more, the depression and discontentment you sink into is completely crippling. You can't focus on anything. Its sort of like when you're starving, and you're so hungry you can't think straight.

When you add up how much you spent on it over the course of a year and realize that could have bought you a new car...

When you get a reputation at your place of employment, and everyone starts treating you like a scumbag, and everytime you get the slightest cold, they think you're doing lines in the bathroom...

When you actually DO start doing lines in the bathroom, and your coworkers start giving you funny looks for acting strange...

When you find out you and several others are being watched because someone else who bought from your dealer got busted recently...

I could go on..

im getting a lil annoyed at some of the hollier then posts on here...

so drug experimentation isnt your choice..fine. but dont act like your better then others for staying clean...

i for one think we should all have some sort of vice in our life..

be it gluttony, smoking weed or cigs, drinking, extreme sex, driving fast, talking on the cell phone while at the grocery store...we all do something that irks others...

so check yourself before you get all uppity...
