They are. They kinda look like shoes that Prince might wear. Not only because they're purple, with purple stripes on the heel (very pretty!), but because of the ties on the front of the shoes. I like those shoes a lot!

I don't HAVE to have designer names, nor have I tried 2 front like I do. I do buy decent shoes, tho, because I have problems with my feet and have a monthly podiatrist appt.
My average pair costs between $50-$100. I have bought them as inexpensive as $19.99 on sale, and splurged on a couple of pairs of boots- but never over $200.
I wouldn't be able 2 keep up the habit AND spend crazy money on over-priced shoes just to have someone's name inside the shoe under my foot where no one can see it. However, there are brands I like & fit better than others- they're just not rent/mortgage payments.

But that's me...

Everyone has their thing and shoes recently became an obsession of mine. Up until recently (say two years ago) I owned maybe 20-25 pairs of shoes. Since then I've prolly bought 30-35 pairs. I came to the realization (no thanks to Prince) that a beautiful pair of shoes or a nice handbag can make a huge statement sometimes moreso than an outfit when I go out.

I don't require a "brand" name but I find that certain designers consistently speak to me and get me hot so I naturally gravitate to them. I've come to rely on their craftmanship and quality so I pretty much stick to what I know. But I'm not above buying shoes at 9 West or Bandolino or wherever but I find that as I've gotten older their shoes have gotten trendier IMO and I prefer more classic shoes with a taste of sassy. As much as I spend on shoes I want to be able to rock them in 10 years without them looking dated.

As for cost, I'll pay a $1000 or more for a pair of shoes or a handbag that *I* think is worth it. I'm fiscally responsible, all my bills are paid on time, I got money in the bank, so if I feel like droppin' a grip on some Jimmy Choo's or Christian Louboutin's, I'm going to do it. Without any guilt, whatsoever. Besides, cost is relative because what I think is a bargain someone else may think is ridiculously high. To each, her own.
I don't like paying regular price so if I come across a good sale great but if I feel I HAVE to have 'em I'll get 'em anyway. This is prolly why I'll NEVER be married, because the minute my husband said some dumb shit to me like, "Are those another pair of shoes???" or "How much were those???" I KNOW we'd have some problems. I don't want to explain or justify my shoe thing to a spouse or anybody else. I have male and female friends that are into all kinds of expensive hobbies and pasttimes and I view my indulgence in shoes and handbags similarly.
