They invited me over today to go to a bbq. They will be grilling goat meat


Here's a summary of my issues with goats :
As a child, I spent most of my summers in the Dominican Republic. During one of those summers, my grandmother had a goat that she kept in her yard. At that point, I had no idea that people ate goat. I thought she was keeping it as a pet. Well, I was a young kid and I loved animals, so that little goat became my friend. I'd wake up and play with the goat all day. On the morning of the day before my family was going to go back home, I noticed that the goat was missing. I was looking for him all over the place and I thought that he ran away. Then later on in the day, I asked my grandmother about dinner and she said that they were making a big, special dinner for us. I was all " YAY! ". I get to dinner to find out that they're having goat and not just any goat, but my goat friend I cried until I got home. I got so upset. And to this day, I will not eat goat. I won't eat pork either.....but that's another story

i hear you about that seeing stuff, and how it twists and warps. on one hand its natural and as much as a part of life as eating and breathing. but its how we as adults choose to reveal the realties of life to our kids that is important.

i dont see anything constructive about holding the chikens neck whilst its being slaughtered, instead we should have been taught to understand the food cycle, our relationships with live stock, pets and animals and how we must respect life and not waste it unnessessarily.

some parents aren't even fit to look after themselves..

oh wow, i suffered a very similar experience, and although i knew we ate goat, but after forging a close relationship with my one, i mean i used to take the mf'er on walks, he had a leash and everything. i naturally assumed that he would be safe from the chopping block..

came home one day to discover that shit weren't true.

i watched some of the rabbits being skinned, its not a thing for children to see.

I got to hold a chicken by the neck while my grandmother chopped its head off. My cousin and I actually did it together. It was gross.
I saw a few things as a child that children should not see. I guess that is why I am warped.

GOATS!!! It sucks too 'cause most of my relatives are farmers and I've had to see shit like this happen a lot. I think that this is part of the reason that I've stopped going over there.

Oh my God....... Thank the lord that I was never asked to help out with something like that. My uncle farms chickens and I used to watch him and my aunt do it though. I'm surprised that I haven't become a vegetarian.

I think I need to go find my pink button and cheer myself up.

Nope... I have moved on. I made a black bean, sweet corn, red, green, yellow pepper , onion salad.... I can't stop eating it.

Seriously... I drizzled some olive oil & red wine vinegar on it and went to town.
Hubby won't eat it anyways but still..... I almost ate the whole thing myself.

I love balsamic vinegar.

When Miguel was here he told me about cucumbers in lemon juice. We tried it, OMG, yummie! I cannot remember what else we put in it though.
I will have to ask him.

i cover everything in lemon, that thick live yoghurt with cucumber i made for you, was drowning in lemon, to give that sour slightly off yoghurt taste..

That was good. I usually do not eat the yoghurty stuff that the curry places give you here. Don't trust it.

63 pieces remember and i cooked 30 of them of which u guys only ate like 10..

nope, no one i know is allowed to eat rice

god i am such a control freak, and hell no, i am eating all the chicken, well okay i have given away most of the chicken, because it was fresh and would be ashame to freeze it..

as for the cakes, i binned them.
