Yes! I was going to apply this year, but reality set in. I don't have a math degree, which is a requirement. I think I could have handled the rest.

I live near NASA and know a lot of astronauts. Without question, they are great, nice men and women. And they are certainly authentic heroes.

I'm going to two launches in the next three months. One of them is set for 1:30 AM. I've got friends going up on both flights. I've never seen a launch live.

I AM SO EXCITED!

If anyone out there is thinking about it, I highly urge you to give it a go. Who knows?

don't laugh but I briefly wanted to be after seeing Barbie and the Rockers in the early 90's, cause the sky looked so beautiful and I had a book on planets.

Anxiety

when i was a kid, i either wanted to be an astronaut or a DJ.

then i gave up those dreams when i decided i wanted to be a puppeteer or a cartoonist.

i miss the days when i was focused about my career path. sigh

This year I got to go into one of the control rooms at NASA in Alabama....and it was cool seeing everything. But you know what.....the only time I will leave earth is during abductions....otherwise I prefer to hang here

This guy used to live right behind me. Nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. So unassuming that you'd think he was a bookkeeper or something like that.

Probably the biggest badass I've ever had the pleasure of knowing:

-339 combat missions in Southeast Asia as a fighter pilot
-USAF test pilot (the most dangerous job in the world)
-Four space shuttle flights
-646 hours in space
-He was the CAPCOM when Challenger exploded, meaning he was the last person to ever talk to them
-He was the pilot of STS-51-I, the first flight after the Challenger tragedy
-After the Columbia tragedy, he headed the commission to figure out how to get the shuttle back in the air
-He is now the CEO of United Space Alliance, a NASA contractor

I'm proud to know him, and I want you to be proud that men and women like him work for you in the your space program!
