I agree completely, however, how does his performance compare to Leinart and Smith in your opinion? You've already said they're developing, but in your opinion do they exhibit the natural ability and hustle that a #1 or first round pick should THREE years later? It's not just that they're learning, it's the types of mistakes they make once in the game. Vince minimized the mistakes pretty early on. I'm not saying he's incapable of erratic play on occassion but I think he's beyond where a lot people expected him to be at THIS point. Regardless, he's light years ahead of Leinart and Smith IMO.

Oh yeah, Vince is ahead of the other guys. And like my friend said, he could DOMINATE if he seriously works on his game.

As for the other two, I'm giving them more time. You have to take other factors into account(supporting cast, coaching, the system they're in, etc.). For Phil Simms, everything came together for him in his sixth year. He said that's when he truly understood the NFL game.

At least Phil Simms, Joe Montana, Steve Young, Troy Aikman, and even Peyton Manning were allowed to develop in the QB position before they would ultimately become superstars and in the case of all but Manning (because he's still playing), hall of famers. But the NFL is a results-now oriented league, and if you don't develop in the first three years, then you are a bust. That can be sort of unfair to some of the quarterbacks who are drafted in the first round by bad teams that switch their head coaches and/or offensive coordinators during those first three seasons, thereby making the quarterback have to learn three entirely different offensive schemes that may not suit their talents at all. In some cases, they have the offensive skill players to help a young quarterback but no offensive line to protect him. David Carr was the very first quarterback for the Houston Texans but was considered a bust, yet he was the most sacked quarterback in the NFL for about five seasons. Vince Young has a lot of talent, but right now he has some very average receivers to work with.

he's leaving PLENTY money on the table, why go through another NFL season? He's gonna get paid to basically be himself commentating. He's got a ring, the record (assist to Favre on that one wink ), what else would motivate you to come back?

I'm glad he decided 2 walk away. U can't play in the NFL unless u are 100% committed. Anything less is an injury waiting 2 happen. Good 4 him.

That's what I'm saying, good for him for working all those seasons to be able to leave at a decent time, on top.

Plus, he's not in football shape, that shit takes time to put weight back on. He has said himself that he is just doing cardio, he needs to be STRONG for his position.

Right on, and David Carr is a perfect example. If he went to a better team with solid ownership(like Big Ben in Pittsburgh) who knows how his career might have turned out? Dude's practically shell-shocked and has to resurrect his career. IMO, calling him a bust is unfair, because he never had a chance.

Sh!t, the MFer was vacationing in Greece with his hot young female. You think he's in a rush to get back on the field and deal with 300+ pound offensive tackles? biggrin

Dude's making more than Tom Brady, which is a disgrace.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the league is working on a rookie salary cap.

The Commissioner wants one. They need one badly. Only established players deserve that kind of money.

True dat. Jake Long's contract is beyond ridiculous.
