THE LIBERAL NANCY PELUSI IS THE NEW DEMOCRATIC HOUSE MINORITY LEADER

The ultra liberal Nancy Pelusi is the new minority leader of the house. Was this a good choice by the democrats? Do you guys think that she will show the leadership that the democrat party needs? In my opinion, most of the liberals in Washington, especially the senators, are pussies. Nancy may be the glue that the democrat party needs. I was hoping that Ford would get it, but the democrat party ain't ready for a black man to be in leadership. Do you think this was a good choice by the democrats?

If she is TOO liberal, she could turn off moderate Democrats and hurt the party, just as Republicans that are TOO conservative turn off moderate Republicans.

Only time will tell how well she serves her party, but the term "ultra liberal" does not bode well for her.

No but at this point, she might be the one to give the party the balls they need to stand up to the Republican party. I'm very excited to see how this plays out.

Im not...Ive heard her speak..She believes that campaigning is the way to get Democrats back into office...She has no focus or agenda...

While Congressman Ford is preaching real changes based on policy changes and working on voter apathy...

Im saying this now...before she starts day one, NANCY NEEDS TO GO!!!

She is ULTRA-liberal and will scare the moderates out of the Democratic party, without a doubt. Plus she wants to raise your taxes, without a doubt. Those of who don't earn yet will begin to care about this a few years from now when your hard work is stolen from you without your consent. The good news is, she will cause the Democrats to lose yet more credibility...and they don't much left to begin with.
Fear is the mind-killer.

Most likely she'll move left to the center a bit...she might need to.

I like Nancy Pelosi and I think she is just what the Democratic Party needs.Unlike Tom Daschle and Richard Gephardt,SHE IS NOT AFRAID OF BUSH,and she's not gonna sit back and let him and the Republicans ruin our economy. She's not afraid to oppose Bush (I think she voted against the original war resolution that Bush wanted) and she really wants to show Americans the REAL differences between the two parties. Now,if we could only get Hillary Clinton to become the new Senate Minority leader.

I for one dont think that hating on Bush is what our party needs. We need to get over the partisan bickering...we need to go out there and find out what our country wants..not what we think they need. She as the minority leader has no control over what Bush does with the economy..He has the majority in both houses...Congressman Ford understood this..He was looking at progessing this party...Nancy only spewed partisan speech...im afraid for our party. And many others within the system are to..Thats why I am getting back into the game. To shut these career "my sole job is to campaign" people up...and Nancy is one of them...

Goddamn, Kee... that was the BEST thing that has been said by ANY Democrat or Republican.

"We need to get over the partisan bickering...we need to go out there and find out what our country wants..not what we think they need."

So,are you saying the Democrats should just bend over and let Bush screw them over? Just sit back and agree with everything Bush tries to do? If that's the case, then the Democratic Party should just cease to exist, because they will never win another election again. It's important for the Democratic Party to DISTINGUISH themselves from the Republicans, and not be afraid to have an opposing view.Consider this...in 2000,Gore actually got more votes than Bush in the election, and of course,Clinton won two terms and got way more votes than his Republican opponents.Americans overwhelmingly suppport the Democrats on all the major issues (economy, education, etc). But in the last two years, they've been "lost",with no strong leader,no real focus, and no way of "selling" their message to the American people.Pelosi realizes this.

Did I say we should bend over? Re-read my post again bub..All I am saying is that we cant run a campaign or a political party solely on opposing the President. We run on our idears..We run on our values. We run on our vision of the country. By doing this, wouldnt *that* differentiat the parties when they are different?

I dont know who much you follow politics..But this is my passion...Ive participate within the Democratic Party. I know many politicians and campaign members...I am actually considering running for public office in a couple years. And do you know the reason why Pelosi won this position? Had nothing to do with her values or her view or focus for the party. She raised a lot of money for congress. When Ghepardt said he was stepping down. She made a statement to the effect that she knew she had the votes because people owed her favors for her good campaigning..Well, our party doesnt need anymore fundraising leaders (see Gray Davis). We need actual leaders who are willing to look outside the box. Leaders who will stop expecting minority votes and start listening to what the minority voters want. We need to stop scaring the elderly w/ social security and start listening to their real economic problems...Yes we do need to differentiat ourselves from the Republican Party. But we dont do that by negatively campaigning against our President (or any other President). Thats more partisan crap. Which is the exact reason that the majority or Americans are turned off from our government and voting...I SAY NO MORE!! no no no!
