Planning for my 20th Anniversary

On March 27, 2009 my hubby and I will celebrate our 20th anniversary and I want to do something special, but I don't know what.

Any ideas? (Yes, I know I've set that one up nicely... lol )

One idea I had was to renew our vows in Las Vegas at the Bellagio. I don't know how many of our family members or friends would come.

Another idea was to do a dinner here. Some of my family live here and our friends could make it (hopefully).

I think I will start by #1 Deciding what we want to do....vow renewal and dinner or dinner only etc.

#2 Decide how formal or casual

#3 Make list of everyone we'd like to see there and send out a request that they keep the date open. It's a Friday (very convenient!!)

Those of you that have organized or attended a similar event, what stood out to you as special?

Congrats on 20 yrs together!! That is awesome! I really like the idea of renewing your vows, in Vegas, or at home. All that matters is the celebration of your love for each other!

Thank you Moni! Time sure flies when you're having fun batting eyes

The focus is definately the celebration of our love!

We got married by a clergy across the street from City Hall in San Antonio, TX.
We didn't have a "wedding", hence my thoughts of making our 20th something that will take some planning.

We have family in San Antonio (and other parts of TX), Virginia Beach. More family live near us as do many of our friends and I'd like to have them come celebrate with us if possible.

Is 6 months not enough notice for them?

I've never really planned anything like this before.

6 months is plenty of time hun!!! Since you didn't really have a wedding, then you really should do it! How wonderful is that!!! I can't say it enough, congrats!! 20 yrs is something!!!!

I like the idea of restating vows nod

I am also in the process of planning our 20th - on Nov 26th

Restating our vows - re writting the old ones we wrote with new intentions and dedications in on the top of my list

I am not sure yet who I wish to join us hmmm our wedding was a very small private event so this celebration I am sure will be on the same theme

Las Vegas sounds fun wink

Congratulations on your upcoming 20th Mach!! hug

A small, private gathering in your backyard would be magical! Your backyard is so pretty!

I think I've narrowed it down to here or LV.

I am looking at several ideas biggrin

A midnight candle light re-union deep in the forest or ocean side seems to call me at this time lol

So many possibilities lol

Mach

This is a small part of what I am working on and reworking as well ~smiles~

I Mach, in the name of the spirit that resides within us all, by the life that courses within my blood, and the love that resides within my heart, take thee, Michael to my hand, my heart, and my spirit to be my chosen one. To desire and be desired by thee. I promise to love thee wholly and completely without restraint, in life and beyond. I shall not seek to change thee in any way. I shall respect and cherish thee, thy beliefs, thy people, and thy ways as I respect and cherish myself.

Renewing our vows on the beach calls to me as well. I REALLY want to renew our vows outdoors, but Utah in March is cold... sigh

We just came back from a vacation in SoCal and we stayed at a BEAUTIFUL hotel that would be perfect. So that's not entirely out of the running either.

Part of my trouble is there are TOO MANY choices.

I love your vows...very precious!

Ben and I did not write our initial vows and I don't think he'd want to write any now...too much pressure for his liking lol

So far I have two things that I will have whatever we do.

#1 I'm setting up a table of pictures for the entryway documenting our 20yrs together.

#2 When we were getting married I wanted lots of flowers. Long story short...military prevented a nicely planned wedding and we got married in downtown San Antonio. I couldn't find a flower shop downtown and ended up with one fake pink mum that a waitress cut out of a bouquet on a table at her diner when we had come in desparately looking around. So each arrangement or at least my bouquet is going to have a fake pink mum in it. giggle
